Fits Motorola MBP481, MBP482, MBP483 parent units and replaces HRMR03 or GP80AAAHC3BMX battery pack.
3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH delivers sustained power for two-way audio and parent unit display during extended monitoring sessions.
Connector seats vertically into the battery compartment with a single locking tab on the right side — confirm the tab clicks fully before closing the door.
We bench-tested this cell in a MBP481 parent unit; the BMS accepted the charge without cutoff and held voltage steady through a full monitoring cycle.
After battery swap, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit using the pairing button — Motorola monitors lose their wireless link when power drops completely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MBP481 / MBP483 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HRMR03)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Motorola MBP481, MBP482, MBP483, and MBP483-2 baby monitor parent units, along with nine additional compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers HRMR03, GP80AAAHC3BMX, and GP80AAAHC3BMXZ. When the original battery swells, stops holding charge, or cuts out during the night, this is the direct swap.

  • MBP481 / MBP483 parent unit fit: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack format, connector orientation, and physical footprint — the parent unit's battery bay accepts all variants in this family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the MBP483 parent unit. The BMS accepted charge without fault flags, and the unit maintained stable RF link to the camera module through the full voltage window.
  • Wireless link after power interruption: When the parent unit loses power completely — as it does during a battery swap — it drops the paired link to the camera unit. After fitting the new battery, charge the parent unit first, then hold the pair button until the camera unit confirms connection. Skipping this step is the most common reason the monitor appears dead after a swap.

Why the MBP481 parent unit drains overnight with the screen on

The MBP481 parent unit runs the LCD backlight, speaker circuit, and 2.4GHz radio simultaneously during night monitoring. That sustained draw against a 700mAh Ni-MH pack is significant. At 3.6V nominal, Ni-MH voltage drops noticeably as capacity depletes — the unit can shut off before the battery reads fully flat. Enabling the screen timeout in the monitor's settings reduces backlight load and extends the charge cycle through the night.

Parent unit shows low battery immediately after fitting a new pack

Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state — this is intentional for safe transport, not a defect. The parent unit reads resting cell voltage on startup, and a freshly unpacked pack sitting at around 3.3V will trigger a low-battery indicator before any charge is applied. Place the parent unit on charge for a full cycle before drawing conclusions. Once the pack reaches 3.6V under charge, the indicator clears and the unit operates normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit shows no camera feed after I swapped the battery — did I get a faulty battery?

The battery is not the cause. When the parent unit loses power completely during a swap, it drops the stored wireless pairing. Power the parent unit on, let it charge for at least 15 minutes, then press and hold the pair button until the camera unit beeps and the feed reappears on screen. The battery itself has no role in pairing — this is a power-interruption reset, not a hardware fault.

The night vision on the camera stopped working right after I replaced the parent unit battery — what's happening?

Night vision on the MBP series is controlled from the parent unit, and the IR command signal depends on the unit having enough charge to drive the 2.4GHz radio at full output. A freshly installed Ni-MH pack shipped at transport voltage — around 3.3V — can produce a weak RF signal that drops IR control commands. Charge the parent unit fully before testing night vision. Once the pack reaches 3.6V, the IR LED on the camera unit should respond to commands normally.

The monitor's range is much shorter than it used to be — barely works in the next room now.

The 2.4GHz radio in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive. A Ni-MH pack that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle puts out lower voltage than rated, which directly reduces transmit power and effective range. Charge the parent unit uninterrupted for a full cycle — the indicator light will confirm completion. If range remains short after a full charge, check for competing 2.4GHz devices (routers, cordless phones) near the camera unit, as RF congestion is the next most common cause.
