Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GICOM GC9600 / LK9100 / LK9150 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1800mAh (6.66Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the stock pack in the GICOM GC9600, LK9100, and LK9150 handheld barcode scanners. These are portable imager units used in warehouse, retail, and inventory environments. The cell dimensions are 53.19 × 35.67 × 11.43mm — confirm against your existing pack before ordering.
- GC9600, LK9100, LK9150 compatibility: All three models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with a matching footprint and connector pinout. The BMS in each unit uses the same charge termination voltage, so one cell format serves the whole range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through simulated scan burst loads and monitored BMS response at low state-of-charge. The protection circuit held cutoff correctly and did not trip under the combined inrush of the imager and wireless radio during back-to-back scans.
- First-shift preparation: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before picking it up for a shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage, and starting from a full charge prevents false BMS trips during the first hour of use.
Cradle showing a charging error on a freshly installed pack
A new cell that has been stored for several months can arrive at a resting voltage below the cradle's charge-initiation threshold. Some docks read this as a fault rather than a deeply discharged cell. If the dock flashes an error immediately after seating the new battery, remove the scanner, wipe the gold contact pads on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears after a minute, the dock has resumed normal charge — the initial fault was contact resistance, not a bad cell.
Scanner losing wireless connection mid-burst during rapid scanning
Fast back-to-back scans combine imager inrush with the wireless radio's polling cycle, creating a compound current draw that briefly sags cell voltage. If the sag crosses the BMS's low-voltage warning threshold, the radio drops to preserve power. This shows up as intermittent disconnects during high-speed pick operations, not during single slow scans. The fix is to ensure the pack is above 3.6V before starting a high-frequency scan run — check the scanner's battery indicator and top up in the cradle if it reads below two bars.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GC9600 won't read barcodes after I put in the new battery — the beam comes on but scans fail
A weak or partially initialised cell can bring the imager up visually but not deliver enough sustained current to complete a decode cycle, especially with 2D codes that require higher processing load. The laser or LED appearing lit does not confirm the cell is at operating voltage. Place the scanner in the cradle for a full charge before attempting reads. Once the battery indicator shows full, the imager will have the current headroom to complete decode on dense or damaged labels.
The scanner gets noticeably warm after two or three hours of continuous use — is that a cell problem?
Sustained scan-plus-wireless draw in the GC9600's enclosed housing generates heat from both the cell and the radio module. A warm-to-the-touch scanner after a long shift is normal. If the housing becomes hot rather than warm, or the scanner throttles scan speed, the BMS is approaching thermal limits. Rotate the unit into the cradle to cool and recharge, then resume — the BMS will reset once temperature drops below its threshold, typically within five to ten minutes in open air.
My replacement pack charges much faster than the original — does that mean the capacity is lower?
Charge time is driven by the charger's output current relative to the cell capacity, not capacity alone. If the cradle's charge current stayed the same and the pack charged faster, the incoming cell's resting voltage was higher than the depleted original, so less energy needed to be added. Check the battery indicator when fully charged — it should read full and hold that level through the first scan session. If capacity seems short across a full working shift, run two complete charge-discharge cycles to allow the BMS to calibrate its state-of-charge tracking.
