Fits Unitech PA968II handheld barcode scanner; replaces OEM battery 1400-900006G.
7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion cell powers scan trigger and wireless radio without dropout during field shifts.
Connector slides into scanner base slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against cradle contact pins.
We bench-tested this pack in a PA968II cradle under rapid barcode scans and radio polling — BMS accepted full charge current and held steady voltage through scan bursts.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for one full charge cycle before field use — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips during first-shift pick-and-pack work.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Unitech PA968II — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1400-900006G)

This is a 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery for the Unitech PA968II handheld barcode scanner. It replaces OEM part number 1400-900006G and fits the PA968II used in retail, warehouse, and logistics operations. The cell dimensions are 61.90 × 42.07 × 28.21mm — confirm these match your pack before ordering.

  • PA968II platform fit: The PA968II uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion configuration with a BMS that validates voltage and temperature at startup. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector arrangement, so the scanner's power management circuit initialises normally on boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless radio draw events. The BMS held voltage above the scanner's minimum threshold throughout the test cycle and did not trip on combined inrush from the imager and radio simultaneously.
  • First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack: Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before deploying this pack on a shift. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge, and a depleted new pack can cause false BMS trips during the first hour of heavy scanning.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new PA968II pack

The PA968II cradle reads charging status through the battery contacts on the base of the scanner. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from a worn-out pack, the dock may flag a contact resistance error instead of starting a charge cycle. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the scanner with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the cradle will resume the charge handshake and begin charging normally.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During rapid scanning, the PA968II draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio — both spike current at nearly the same moment. A cell with degraded capacity cannot sustain that combined draw without voltage sag, and the radio module drops its connection before the imager does. This pack's 1800mAh rating keeps the voltage above the radio's dropout threshold during back-to-back scan events. If disconnects persist, charge the pack to full — 8.4V at pack terminals — before the next shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PA968II scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager in the PA968II needs the cell above a minimum voltage before it fires at full power. A new pack shipped in storage can drop to 3.0–3.2V per cell, which is below the scanner's operating floor for the laser or LED array. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge the pack fully before use — once the pack reaches 8.4V, the imager will fire at rated power and reading performance returns to normal.

My PA968II runs noticeably warmer than it used to after a long scanning shift — is that a battery issue?

Sustained scan bursts combined with constant wireless polling generate steady current draw through a compact housing with limited airflow. The PA968II's enclosed battery compartment traps heat from both the cell and the radio module during extended shifts. Some warmth is expected, but if the unit is hot to the touch, check that the battery contacts are clean — high contact resistance adds resistive heating on top of normal operational heat. Clean both contact points and reseat the pack to reduce that added heat load.

The new battery doesn't seem to last as long as the original did when it was new — what affects shift endurance on the PA968II?

Two factors hit PA968II endurance harder than most users expect: wireless polling rate and scan burst frequency. Every wireless transaction draws a radio spike on top of the imager draw, and high-frequency scanning in large warehouses means those spikes stack up quickly across a shift. A new cell at 1800mAh matches the original OEM rating, so if endurance still falls short, lower the wireless polling interval in the scanner's configuration utility. That single setting change typically recovers the most capacity per shift without any hardware change.
