Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hioki LR8511 / LR8510 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Z1007)
This is a 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery that replaces the Hioki Z1007 original pack. It fits the LR8511 and LR8510 portable data loggers used for temperature and humidity recording in field and industrial environments. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original specification exactly.
- LR8511 and LR8510 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The Z1007 form factor — 71.84 × 39.11 × 21.41mm — seats flush in either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the LR8511's charge and discharge management circuit. The BMS accepted the cell, balanced correctly across both channels, and held steady voltage through sustained logging draws without triggering protection cutoff.
- Field deployment tip for the LR8510 and LR8511: These loggers sample continuously during deployment. Before sending a unit into the field, run a full charge cycle in the logger itself — not a standalone charger — so the onboard BMS can calibrate its state-of-charge register against the new cell's actual capacity curve.
Why the LR8511 reports low battery immediately after a pack swap
The LR8511 tracks battery state using a coulomb-counting register in the BMS, not a raw voltage reading. When you fit a new pack, that register may still hold the depleted value from the old battery. The logger then reports low battery even though cell voltage is at nominal 7.4V. A full charge cycle through the logger resets the register and aligns the display with actual cell capacity.
LR8510 or LR8511 powering off mid-recording session
Mid-session shutdowns on these loggers are almost always a BMS undervoltage trip, not a faulty cell. The protection circuit cuts output when pack voltage drops below approximately 6.0V under load. This happens fastest when the cell has been stored discharged for an extended period — lithium-ion self-discharges roughly 2–3% per month, and a pack sitting at low state of charge for several months can sag past the cutoff threshold within minutes of a high-draw logging burst. Fully charge the new pack to 8.4V before the first deployment to prevent this.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LR8511 says the battery is low right after I put in the new Z1007 pack — is the pack faulty?
The pack is almost certainly fine. The LR8511 uses a coulomb-counting register that retains the old battery's depleted state after a swap, so the logger reports low charge even when cell voltage reads a healthy 7.4V or above. Place the unit on charge immediately after fitting the new pack and let it complete a full cycle — the BMS will reset the register and the display will reflect actual capacity. If the low-battery indicator persists after a full charge, measure pack voltage directly; it should read 8.4V at full charge.
The LR8511 keeps shutting down partway through a recording session even with a fresh battery installed — what's causing it?
This is a BMS undervoltage cutoff, not a defective cell. If the new pack was stored for several months before use, self-discharge may have dropped cell voltage low enough that a sustained logging draw pulls it past the 6.0V protection threshold within the first session. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V through the logger before deploying it, and the BMS will have the full voltage headroom it needs to sustain continuous sampling without tripping.
The LR8510 won't power on at all after fitting the Z1007 replacement — the charge indicator doesn't even light up.
This usually points to high contact resistance between the pack terminals and the battery bay, or a BMS that's locked into deep-discharge protection. Remove the pack, inspect the gold contact pads on both the pack and the logger bay, and wipe them with a dry lint-free cloth to clear any oxidation or debris. Reseat the pack firmly and connect the logger to its charger — if the BMS is in deep-discharge lockout, the charging circuit should detect the cell and begin a trickle pre-charge phase before resuming normal charge. If the charge LED still does not respond after 15 minutes on charge, check that charger output voltage is present at the connector.
