Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell 1202g / 1452G / 1472G Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-SCN01)
This 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in Honeywell 1202g, 1452G, 1472G, 1902GSR, and 31 additional models in the same scanner family. It fits handheld barcode scanners used in retail point-of-sale and warehouse pick-and-pack environments. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds charge through a full shift.
- 1202g / 1452G / 1472G platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V battery bay, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the entire series because the dock charging circuit and trigger-event current profile are identical across units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 1202g unit. The BMS accepted the cell without a fault flag, the cradle completed a full charge cycle cleanly, and the scanner resumed normal scan-trigger response at rated voltage.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and allow a complete charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack operations. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip on the very first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Honeywell charging cradles monitor contact resistance on the battery terminals. Oxidation or residue on the gold-plated contacts can push resistance high enough that the dock reports a fault instead of starting a charge cycle. The cradle is not detecting a bad cell — it is detecting poor contact. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charge indicator should switch to active within 30 seconds.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The 1202g and 1452G draw simultaneously from the radio module and the scan trigger during a burst — combined inrush can cause a brief voltage sag on a low or degraded cell. When the radio module loses supply headroom, it drops its wireless association before reconnecting automatically. This looks like an intermittent connection problem but the root cause is cell voltage sagging under combined load. Charge the battery to full before a high-volume scanning session and check that the cell rests above 3.6V after a burst to confirm the pack is not approaching end of life.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Honeywell 1202g scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager or laser in the 1202g requires a minimum supply voltage to fire at full power. If the replacement pack was shipped partially discharged, the cell may be too low to drive the scan element properly even though the scanner powers on. Place the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before attempting any scanning. Once the pack reaches full charge, the imager will return to normal read performance.
The cradle shows a charging error every time I insert the scanner with the new pack — is the battery faulty?
Almost always this is a contact issue, not a bad cell. Honeywell cradles monitor terminal resistance, and any residue or oxidation on the battery or dock contacts trips a fault before the charge cycle starts. Wipe both the battery contacts and the cradle contact pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then firmly reseat the scanner. The charging indicator should switch to active within about 30 seconds.
Our warehouse scanners feel warm after a long shift and start missing scans toward the end — is that normal?
Sustained scanning combined with constant wireless polling generates heat inside the enclosed housing of the 1202g series. As the cell temperature rises, the BMS tightens its discharge limits slightly, which can reduce available current right when scan-trigger inrush demand is highest. This is normal behaviour, not a defect. Rotate scanners through the cradle mid-shift to keep cells above 3.5V and reduce the thermal load on any single unit.
