Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IEIMobile MODAT-200 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP4/54/85)
This 3.7V 1800mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the OEM pack in the IEIMobile MODAT-200 handheld barcode scanner. It matches the original cell format at 86.57 × 49.85 × 3.80mm and slots into the existing battery bay without modification. Voltage and capacity are sourced from the OEM specification — 1800mAh, 6.66Wh.
- MODAT-200 platform fit: The MODAT-200 uses a slim Li-Polymer cell with a fixed connector pinout that carries both power and BMS communication to the device. The 1ICP4/54/85 format is specific to this scanner chassis — a mismatched cell thickness will prevent the battery door from seating and break the BMS data line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts while monitoring the BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit held within spec during back-to-back high-frequency scan events, and cell voltage recovery between bursts stayed consistent across the test run.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, place the MODAT-200 in its cradle for a full charge cycle before pulling triggers on the first shift. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — starting the shift on a full cell prevents false BMS trips that can misread as a hardware fault.
Cradle showing charging error on a new MODAT-200 pack
The MODAT-200 cradle communicates with the battery BMS through spring-loaded dock contacts. If those contacts are oxidised or have residue from the old pack, the cradle cannot read the new cell's charge state and throws a fault. This is a contact resistance issue, not a faulty battery. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charge indicator should clear within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan sequence, the MODAT-200 draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio — two inrush loads hitting the cell at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum operating threshold during that combined draw, the wireless stack drops and needs to re-associate with the access point. This appears as a connection dropout rather than a scan failure, so it is often misdiagnosed as a network issue. Charge the pack fully before high-frequency scanning shifts — a cell starting above 3.9V handles the combined load without voltage sag severe enough to drop the radio.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MODAT-200 won't read barcodes after I put the new battery in — is the scanner broken?
The imager and laser module require a minimum voltage to fire at full power, and a new pack shipped in storage may sit below that threshold. The scanner powers on but the imager output is too weak to decode. Place the MODAT-200 in the cradle and run a full charge cycle before testing scan performance — the reading issue clears once the cell reaches 3.7V and above.
The MODAT-200 gets noticeably warm after a long scanning shift — is that normal with a Li-Polymer pack?
Sustained scan bursts combined with continuous wireless polling generate heat inside the enclosed MODAT-200 housing, and the flat Li-Polymer cell sits close to that heat source. Some warmth is normal, but if the back of the device becomes too hot to hold comfortably, the pack is likely being kept at maximum draw longer than the thermal design expects. Break scanning into shorter continuous runs and allow the device to idle briefly between heavy pick-and-pack sessions — this keeps cell temperature in a safe range without reducing shift output.
The new battery drains faster than I expected compared to the old one — what could cause that?
A Li-Polymer cell shipped from storage has not been through a conditioning cycle, and first-use capacity is often 10–15% below rated until the cell has completed two or three full charge-discharge cycles. Shallow cycling — putting the scanner back in the cradle after only light use — also prevents the BMS from calibrating its state-of-charge readings accurately. Run the MODAT-200 through two full discharge-to-cradle cycles, then compare shift endurance against your baseline — rated capacity of 1800mAh should be consistent from cycle three onward.
