Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leuze HS6578 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (50120448)
This 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Leuze HS6578 handheld barcode scanner. The HS6578 is a linear imaging scanner used across retail, logistics, and warehouse pick-and-pack operations. Capacity matches the factory spec at 9.62Wh, so shift endurance stays consistent with what users expect from the original.
- HS6578 platform fit: The HS6578 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and temperature before enabling the scan trigger and wireless radio. This replacement matches the original connector pinout and BMS communication protocol, so the scanner powers on and authenticates normally without throwing a pack-fault error.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless radio draw sequences on the HS6578. The BMS held stable through sustained burst scanning and did not trip under the combined inrush load of the imager and radio polling.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it for use. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage — a pre-charged cell prevents the BMS from tripping on the very first barcode read of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging errors on the HS6578 cradle are usually caused by high contact resistance between the dock pins and the battery terminals, not a fault in the pack itself. Oxidation or debris on the gold contacts breaks the voltage handshake the cradle uses to initiate charge. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, the pack is good — check cradle contacts routinely to keep resistance below the dock's threshold.
Scanner loses wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During fast sequential scanning, the imager and wireless radio draw current simultaneously, creating a combined inrush spike that can drag cell voltage below the BMS's cutoff threshold. When that happens, the radio drops first — the scanner stays on but loses its connection to the host before the imager resets. A cell with low state of charge makes this worse because internal resistance rises as voltage falls. Charge the pack to 4.2V before a high-throughput shift and the combined inrush stays within the BMS's operating window.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HS6578 stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire, and a new pack shipped at storage charge (around 3.6–3.7V) can sit right at that threshold. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge fully before attempting a read — once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V the imager powers up normally. If it still won't read after a full charge, reseat the battery and confirm the contact tabs are flush against the terminals.
My HS6578 runs out of charge noticeably faster than it did with the original battery — why?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both draw from the same cell, and if the scanner is set to aggressive radio polling intervals the combined draw is higher than most users expect. Check the host software configuration — reducing the wireless poll rate lowers background draw significantly without affecting scan performance. Also confirm the pack reached a full first charge; a pack first used at partial charge can show short endurance until it completes two or three full cycles.
The HS6578 feels warm after a long shift — is the battery overheating?
Sustained scanning combined with continuous wireless radio activity generates heat inside the scanner's enclosed housing, and that heat accumulates in the battery compartment over a long shift. The BMS monitors cell temperature and will throttle or cut output if the cell exceeds its thermal limit, which shows up as the scanner slowing down or dropping connection near end of shift. This is normal behaviour under heavy load — allow the scanner to cool for five minutes between shifts. If the housing is hot to touch within the first hour of use, check that the battery contacts are seated correctly and that the cradle charged the pack to a full 4.2V before the shift started.
