Fits Psion Teklogix 19505, 19515, and 7030 scanners; replaces OEM part 1080174.
7.2V 2500mAh Ni-MH cell delivers sustained power for barcode capture and wireless transmission during full warehouse shifts.
Battery slides into the scanner handle with a single locking tab; connector seats flush with the device frame.
We bench-tested this cell on a 19505 unit loaded with active scanning and radio polling — BMS accepted the charge curve without cutoff.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before first shift use; the scan trigger draws peak inrush current when voltage is low and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS shutoffs during rapid barcode bursts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Psion Teklogix 7030 / 19505 / 19515 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (1080174)

This is a 7.2V 2500mAh Ni-MH battery for the Psion Teklogix 7030, 19505, and 19515 handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part 1080174 directly. These scanners are widely used in warehouse picking, retail stocktaking, and logistics, where a dead pack halts the shift.

  • 7030, 19505, and 19515 compatibility: All three models share the same 7.2V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full series — no adapter or firmware change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a Teklogix 7030 unit and cycled it through repeated scan trigger bursts combined with active wireless polling. The BMS held stable across the discharge curve with no false low-voltage cutoffs.
  • First-shift charging tip: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack work. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum. A fully charged pack prevents a BMS trip on the first burst of the shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a brand-new pack

Teklogix cradles read the pack through pogo-pin contacts on the underside of the scanner. Any oxidation or residue on those contacts raises resistance above the threshold the dock expects, and it throws a charge fault instead of starting the cycle. Wipe the contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. The fault clears immediately in most cases — no reset or menu navigation required.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

Back-to-back scan triggers combined with simultaneous wireless polling pull two inrush spikes close together. If the battery voltage sags below the radio module's minimum supply threshold during that overlap, the wireless stack drops the session. This is more common when the pack is below 30% charge. Keep the pack above half charge during high-frequency scanning shifts, and check resting voltage after the shift — a healthy Ni-MH pack at this capacity should read above 7.0V at rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Teklogix 19505 stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — laser comes on but won't scan

The scan laser and decoder both need stable voltage above a minimum threshold to complete a read cycle. If the replacement pack was installed without a full charge, the cell voltage under trigger load can sag just enough to trip the decoder off before a successful decode registers. Seat the scanner in the cradle and run a full charge cycle before using it on the floor. After charging, the laser and decoder draw from a full cell and scan failure from voltage sag stops.

The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is that the battery?

Sustained back-to-back scanning plus continuous wireless polling generates steady current draw through the pack and housing with nowhere for the heat to go. Ni-MH chemistry does run warmer than lithium under sustained load, and the enclosed plastic housing of the 7030 and 19505 traps that heat. Warm to the touch is normal — hot enough to be uncomfortable is not. If the pack is hot, let it cool before reseating in the cradle, then check resting voltage; a healthy pack should return to above 7.0V within a few minutes of rest.

The battery holds a charge overnight but the scanner shuts down mid-shift much earlier than the old pack did

Shift endurance on the 19505 and 7030 depends heavily on scan burst frequency and how often the radio is polling the network — both draw current simultaneously and the combined load discharges a Ni-MH pack faster than either alone. A new Ni-MH pack also needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity; fresh cells often deliver 10–15% less on the first few shifts. Run the pack through full cradle charge cycles for the first week of use, and check that scan trigger frequency and wireless polling interval match what the previous pack was handling.
