Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Elcom Euro-150TEi / Euro-50TEi Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2ICR18650P)
This is a 7.4V, 3350mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Elcom Euro-150TEi, Euro-50TEi, and Euro-50TEi Mini cash registers. It slots into the battery bay and connects to the register's onboard trickle charger circuit. The OEM part number is 2ICR18650P.
- Euro-150TEi and Euro-50TEi series compatibility: All three models share the same 7.4V backup battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One battery covers the full group — no hardware modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the Euro-50TEi's trickle charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault flags. Voltage held steady at 7.4V nominal under simulated mains-loss load.
- First charge after installation: Leave the register powered on mains for at least 12 hours after fitting this battery. The register charges it through a low-current trickle circuit — rushing to test backup mode before the battery is fully charged will give you a false failure result.
Why the Euro-150TEi loses programmed prices after a power outage
Prices, PLU data, and tax rates on these registers live in volatile RAM — not flash storage. The backup battery is the only thing keeping that RAM alive when mains power drops. If the battery voltage falls below roughly 6.0V, the RAM loses power and all programmed data resets to factory defaults. A flat or failing backup battery is the most common cause of repeated data loss after outages. Replacing the battery and allowing a full trickle charge cycle before the next outage prevents this.
Display goes blank the moment mains power cuts out
The Euro-series backup circuit prioritises RAM retention over peripheral power — the display and printer draw significantly more current than the battery's backup circuit is rated to sustain simultaneously. If the display goes dark the instant mains drops but the register recovers when power returns, the battery is either not charged or has degraded below its minimum discharge voltage. Check the battery voltage directly — a healthy, fully charged 2ICR18650P cell pair should read between 8.2V and 8.4V at the terminals. If it reads below 7.0V after a full 12-hour trickle charge, the cell has failed and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Euro-150TEi keeps losing all its prices every time the power goes out, even with a new battery fitted — what's wrong?
The most likely cause is that the new battery hasn't completed its initial trickle charge. These registers charge the backup battery through a very low-current circuit, and a fully depleted cell needs at least 12 hours on mains power before it can sustain RAM during an outage. If you tested backup mode within the first few hours of installation, the battery simply didn't have enough charge to hold the volatile RAM alive. Leave the register on mains for a full 12 hours, then test — if data loss continues after that, measure the battery voltage at the terminals and confirm it reads above 7.8V.
The clock and date reset every time I unplug the register, but the prices stay intact — is this the same battery?
No — the real-time clock on Euro-series registers is backed by a separate small RTC cell, not the main 2ICR18650P backup battery. The main battery keeps RAM alive; the RTC cell keeps the clock ticking independently. If prices survive a power cut but time resets, the RTC coin cell is depleted. Replacing the 2ICR18650P won't fix clock resets — locate and replace the RTC cell on the mainboard instead.
The backup battery on my Euro-50TEi seems to go flat within a few months of fitting — why does it keep dying so fast?
Continuous trickle charging at an incorrect voltage degrades lithium-ion cells quickly. If the register's charging circuit is outputting slightly above spec — which can happen when the charging board component ages — it slowly overcharges the cell pack and accelerates capacity loss. Check that the trickle charge voltage reaching the battery terminals doesn't exceed 8.4V; anything consistently above that will shorten cell life significantly. If the charge voltage is correct and cells still degrade fast, the register is likely not maintaining a proper charge termination and the charging board should be inspected.
