Seat the handset firmly in the base and leave it undisturbed for 30 minutes — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage rises above the acceptance floor, then switch to normal charging. If the charge light still does not appear after 30 minutes, remove the handset, check that the battery connector is fully clicked in, and reseat it in the base.

The handset drops calls near the edge of the room but it never did that with the old battery — is the new one causing it?

Yes, this can be battery-related. The Mobile Reflexes 200's DECT transmitter draws a short current spike each time it maintains the radio link. If the cell voltage sags under that RF load — which happens when a new battery hasn't completed its first full charge cycle — the transmitter pulls back power to protect the circuit, and range drops noticeably. Run two complete charge-and-use cycles first. If range is still reduced after that, check that the handset contacts and battery terminals are clean and making solid contact.

The Alcatel Mobile Reflexes 200 battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. The base station only delivers charge current when the handset's charge contacts press firmly against the base cradle pins. If the handset is slightly off-centre or the cradle pins are dirty, the circuit stays open and the cell discharges on standby draw alone.
