Fits Telematrix 9600 and 9621P cordless handsets; replaces OEM part BATT-9600.
3.6V Ni-MH at 700mAh delivers the charge capacity this DECT handset needs for full talk time between base-station charges.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab that seats flush against the handset chassis.
We bench-tested the cell in a 9600 base unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no error light.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telematrix 9600 / 9621P — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BATT-9600)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Telematrix 9600 and 9621P cordless handsets. It replaces the original BATT-9600 cell pack when the handset no longer holds a usable charge. Dimensions are 45.10 × 31.40 × 11.00mm — confirm these against your existing pack before fitting.

  • 9600 and 9621P compatibility: Both handsets run the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH configuration and use an identical connector and footprint, which is why they share one battery part number across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 9600 handset. The battery accepted charge from the base station without error and the BMS held stable voltage across the full discharge curve.
  • First-charge conditioning on NiMH packs: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells shipped in partial storage states need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step leaves you with noticeably shorter talk time from day one.

Range dropping after a battery swap on the 9600

Ni-MH cells that haven't been conditioned show a steeper voltage sag under RF transmit load. The 9600 handset draws a higher current burst during DECT transmission, and an under-conditioned pack can't sustain the voltage rail — so the transmitter steps back power. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles through the base station before judging range. Voltage stabilises across the pack after conditioning and the transmit power holds at its normal level.

Base station shows no-charge or error light with new battery installed

Batteries stored for extended periods can arrive with a cell voltage below the threshold the Telematrix base station accepts as a valid charge target. The base reads the pack as a fault rather than a depleted cell and refuses to charge. Place the handset in the base anyway and leave it undisturbed — most base stations will re-attempt charge detection after 10 to 15 minutes and pick up the pack once voltage climbs above roughly 3.0V. If the error persists past 30 minutes, remove the handset, wait one minute, and reseat it to trigger a fresh detection cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Telematrix 9600 talk time is much shorter than it was with the old battery — is the new one faulty?

It's not faulty — NiMH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. The first charge after storage delivers noticeably less talk time than subsequent cycles. Run the handset down until it prompts you to charge, then return it to the base for a full cycle each time. By cycle four or five, capacity should be at or near the rated 700mAh.

The handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully lost. The fix is to re-register the handset from scratch — on most Telematrix 9600 systems, hold the base registration button until the indicator flashes, then trigger pairing from the handset menu within 60 seconds. Check your base station label or the underside sticker for the default PIN, which is usually 0000 or 1234.

The handset battery drains overnight even though it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is almost always a seating issue rather than a battery fault. If the handset contacts aren't making a clean connection with the base cradle, the base stops charging and the handset runs on standby draw from the battery alone. Remove the handset, wipe both the handset charge contacts and the base cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset firmly. You should hear or feel it click into position — check that the charge indicator light on the base activates within a few seconds of reseating.
