Fits Teledex Opal DCT1905 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part BATT-OPL.
3.6V Ni-MH chemistry at 700mAh delivers the talk and standby performance this DECT phone requires.
Battery slides into the handset base slot with a single locking tab; connector is friction-fit.
We bench-tested the BMS acceptance on a live base unit — charger recognized voltage and began float charge without error codes.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; Ni-MH cells need slow first conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Teledex Opal DCT1905 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BATT-OPL)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Teledex Opal DCT1905 cordless hotel handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation between the handset and base unit. Voltage, capacity, and connector match the original BATT-OPL specification.

  • Opal DCT1905 platform fit: The DCT1905 handset runs a 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack with a specific contact pitch and polarity. This battery matches that layout — same cell count, same terminal orientation, same BMS voltage window the base charger expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the DCT1905 base charger and confirmed the trickle-charge handoff behaved correctly. The BMS accepted charge without triggering an error state, and the handset powered on cleanly at end of charge.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing this battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short locks in a lower ceiling for the first several cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. On cycle one, you may see noticeably less talk time than the original — this is normal cell conditioning, not a faulty battery. Each subsequent full cycle builds usable capacity incrementally. By cycle five, the pack should stabilise at or near the 700mAh rating.

Base station showing no charge or an error light after fitting a new pack

A new NiMH battery sitting in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the DCT1905 base charger uses to confirm a valid pack is present. If the charge indicator stays off or flashes an error, remove the handset and check the battery contacts for oxidation — wipe with a dry cloth. Then reseat the handset firmly and wait two minutes. If the base still does not recognise it, the pack voltage is likely below 3.0V; place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for one hour before checking again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Teledex Opal DCT1905 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing data when power drops completely. The DCT1905 re-pairs through the base menu — press and hold the page or find button on the base unit for five seconds until the handset enters registration mode, then follow the on-screen prompts on the handset. This is a one-time step after any full battery removal, not a sign the new battery is faulty.

The handset battery drains overnight even though I left it in the base — what's causing that?

This is a standby draw issue, not a capacity fault. If the handset is not fully seated in the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery rather than being topped up. Check that the handset clicks flush into the base and that the charge indicator light comes on. Clean the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth if the light still does not appear after reseating.

The range on my DCT1905 is shorter than it was before I put in the new battery — is something wrong?

DECT transmit power is sensitive to supply voltage. A NiMH pack that has not yet completed its conditioning cycles will sag under the RF transmit load, causing the handset to reduce output power and shrink usable range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and range should recover as the pack reaches its rated 700mAh capacity. If range remains poor after five cycles, check that the base antenna is unobstructed and that no new interference sources — cordless routers, microwaves — have been placed nearby.
