Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Alcatel Versatis 50 / 150 / 250 / 350 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (60AAAAH2BMJ)
This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Alcatel Versatis 50, 150, 250, and 350 cordless DECT handsets. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to a phone that no longer holds charge. Dimensions are 45 x 21 x 10mm, matching the original cell geometry.
- Versatis 50 / 150 / 250 / 350 compatibility: All four Versatis handsets share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, the same connector orientation, and the same base station charging circuit. One battery fits all four models because the voltage rail and physical footprint are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Versatis base station charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without triggering a charging fault. Voltage at full charge measured 2.8V, within the expected range for a two-cell NiMH pack.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a continuous 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cordless phone cells need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short leaves the pack at 60–70% of its 600mAh rating from the outset.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. A new pack in a Versatis handset will feel weak for the first few days of normal use — this is chemistry, not a faulty cell. Run the handset until the low-battery tone sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge. Repeat this three to five times and talk time will stabilise at the full 600mAh level.
Base station shows no charge or flashes an error light on a new pack
NiMH cells stored before sale can drop to a voltage level that the Versatis base station's charge controller reads as a fault condition rather than a dischargeable pack. The base expects to see a cell above roughly 1.8V total before it enters normal charge mode. If the charge LED flashes or stays off, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this re-triggers the charge detect cycle. If the error persists, a short trickle charge using a standalone NiMH charger at 60mA for 30 minutes is enough to lift the pack voltage above the base station's acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Versatis handset is losing range near the edges of the house — could the new battery be causing this?
Yes, low NiMH voltage under RF load is a known cause of reduced range on DECT handsets. When the transmit circuit fires, it draws a short burst of current that sags the pack voltage — if the cells aren't fully conditioned, that sag is enough to reduce transmit power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the pack, then retest range. A fully conditioned 600mAh NiMH pack should hold voltage above 2.2V under RF load.
The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?
Some DECT phones drop their registration data when the handset loses all power during a battery swap. The Versatis base and handset need to re-pair manually after this happens. Press and hold the registration button on the base station until the LED flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset menu. The process takes under 60 seconds and does not affect stored phonebook entries if those are held in the base.
The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?
This points to the handset not making a clean electrical connection with the base station charging contacts, not a fault with the cell itself. Check the two gold charging pins on the base and the corresponding contacts on the handset for oxidation or debris — a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol clears most contact fouling. Also confirm the handset clicks firmly into the cradle rather than resting loosely. Once the contacts are clean and seating is solid, the standby draw drops to microamps and overnight drain stops.
