Fits Bell South Excelistor 3101 handset; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 600mAh capacity restores full talk time and standby duration on this cordless handset.
Connector type matches original battery slot with no locking tab modification required.
We bench-tested this cell in the Excelistor 3101 base charger; BMS voltage settled at 4.2V peak, no fault codes.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bell South Excelistor 3101 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Bell South Excelistor 3101 cordless phone handset. It fits directly into the handset compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell can no longer hold a charge. Voltage and capacity match OEM specifications from the product data.

  • Excelistor 3101 handset fit: The 3101 handset uses a single Ni-MH cell at 3.6V with a compact form factor — 42.45 x 29.77 x 14.37mm. This replacement matches that footprint and voltage rail so the BMS on the base station reads the pack correctly during charge cycles.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Excelistor 3101 base station and confirmed the charge circuit accepted the Ni-MH pack without triggering an error state. Voltage at full charge measured within the expected range for this chemistry.
  • First-charge conditioning for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones reach rated capacity only after a slow initial charge — skipping this step is the single most common reason a new battery underperforms from day one.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On cycle one, you may notice noticeably shorter talk time — that is normal cell behaviour, not a fault with the pack. Each subsequent cycle conditions the cell further. By cycle five, capacity should be close to the rated 600mAh.

Handset not pairing with base station after battery swap

Some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed from the handset. Swapping the battery breaks that power supply momentarily, which can drop the handset registration. To re-pair, hold the handset's page or find button while the unit is seated in the base — refer to the Excelistor 3101 manual for the exact key sequence, which ends with a confirmation tone from the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Excelistor 3101 base station is showing no charge light after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

NiMH packs can drop below the voltage threshold the base station needs to recognise an active charge session during storage. Seat the handset in the base for 30 minutes, then remove and re-seat it firmly — this often prompts the base charge circuit to re-initiate. If the light still does not appear, check that the handset contacts and base cradle contacts are clean and making full metal-to-metal contact. A damp cloth on the contacts, followed by a dry wipe, is enough to clear oxidation that blocks the charge signal.

The Excelistor 3101 handset loses range within the first few minutes of a call — is the battery causing this?

Yes. When a NiMH cell is not yet fully conditioned, voltage sags under the RF transmit load the handset puts on the pack during active calls. That sag reduces transmit power, which cuts range before the call ends. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cell and bring voltage stability up to rated levels. After conditioning, voltage under RF load should remain stable enough to hold the full operating range of the handset.

The Excelistor 3101 handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what causes that?

Overnight drain while docked usually means the handset is not fully seated, so the base charge circuit is not maintaining the trickle charge that offsets the handset's standby draw. Lift the handset out and press it firmly back into the cradle until you feel or hear it click into position. Check that nothing is blocking the base cradle — even a small amount of debris under the handset can lift it off the charge contacts by a millimetre, which is enough to break the circuit.
