Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic P-P304 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Panasonic cordless phone handsets that use the P-P304 pack. It fits units also cross-referenced as PP304, P-P304PA/1B, and TYPE 9. When your handset stops holding charge, this pack restores full function without replacing the phone.
- P-P304 platform coverage: Panasonic cordless handsets in this series share the same 3.6V NiMH cell configuration, connector pinout, and physical envelope — all cross-reference numbers (PP304, P-P304PA/1B, TYPE 9) point to the same electrical spec and slot into the same battery compartment.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH-compatible test rig. The cells accepted a full charge without thermal anomaly, and voltage held within spec across the discharge curve.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before using the phone. NiMH cells shipped in a partially discharged state need one slow, uninterrupted charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the most common reason buyers report short talk time on a new battery.
Base station showing charging error on a new NiMH pack
Panasonic base stations check incoming battery voltage before initiating the charge cycle. A NiMH pack that has self-discharged below roughly 3.0V during storage may fall outside the base's acceptance window, triggering an error light or no-charge state. The fix is not a faulty battery — it's a depleted one. Some bases recover automatically once the pack voltage rises slightly; if yours does not, a brief charge via a compatible external NiMH charger set to the correct cell count will bring voltage up to the threshold the base expects.
Range drops noticeably after a battery swap
DECT handsets regulate transmit power from the battery rail. When a NiMH pack is not yet fully conditioned, voltage sags under the RF load of an active call, and the handset scales back transmit power to compensate. This shows up as reduced range or audio drop-outs, particularly at the edges of your coverage area. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles — each cycle brings the cells closer to rated capacity — and the voltage sag under RF load will decrease. After cycle five, check range again at the same distance where drop-outs occurred.

Frequently Asked Questions
My handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?
Removing the battery cuts power completely to the handset, and some Panasonic DECT models drop their pairing data when power is lost. This is a phone firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset through the base station's handset registration menu — on most Panasonic models, hold the locator button on the base for five or more seconds until the registration tone sounds, then follow the handset prompts.
Talk time is noticeably shorter than the original battery even after a full overnight charge — is the pack faulty?
Not necessarily. NiMH cells require three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — the first charge almost never delivers full talk time. Use the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle four or five, capacity should be at or near the 600mAh rating. If talk time is still noticeably short after five conditioning cycles, check that the handset contacts and battery terminals are clean and making solid contact.
The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?
This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging cradle, not a battery defect. Standby current draw on a seated handset should be offset entirely by the trickle charge from the base — if the pack drains, the charge circuit is not completing. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and check that the charge indicator light activates. If the light comes on and the pack still drains, test with the handset in a different base cradle position to rule out a bent contact pin.
