3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full talk and standby time to aging handsets.
Connector seats into the battery slot at handset base with positive terminal facing inward.
We bench-tested this pack on a BC400 base station; BMS voltage held steady through charge cycles without error codes.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH packs need slow conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Betacom BC400 / E900 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Betacom cordless phones including the BC400, CHEETAH, E3250, and E900, plus eleven additional compatible handsets. It fits the handset battery bay directly and restores talk and standby function when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification.

  • BC400 and E900 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH architecture, connector pinout, and physical bay dimensions — 45.90 x 31.20 x 10.70mm — so one battery covers all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless phone test rig. The cell accepted charge normally from the base station dock, and voltage held steady across standby and active RF transmit loads.
  • First-charge conditioning for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged and need one slow, uninterrupted charge cycle to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens usable talk time from the start.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first cycle. A new 700mAh pack may perform closer to 500–550mAh for the first three to five charge-discharge cycles. This is not a fault — it is how Ni-MH chemistry conditions. Each full cycle builds plate capacity until the cell stabilises at its rated value. Run three complete charge-drain cycles through normal use and capacity will reach its rated 700mAh.

Base station shows no charge light or error after installing new battery

Betacom base stations check incoming voltage before committing charging current. A new Ni-MH pack that has been in storage can sit below 3.0V — low enough that the base station's charge controller rejects it as a fault condition. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then re-seat it firmly so both charge contacts close fully. If the error persists, connect the handset to a USB Ni-MH trickle charger at 50–100mA for 15 minutes to raise the cell above 3.2V, then return it to the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Betacom handset is losing range after I put in the new battery — it drops calls near the edge of the house but didn't before. What's wrong?

Range reduction after a battery swap usually means the new Ni-MH pack is sagging under RF transmit load. When the DECT radio fires, it draws a sharp burst of current — if the battery voltage dips below about 3.0V during that burst, the handset reduces transmit power to protect the circuit. This happens most often in the first few cycles before the cell is conditioned. Run three full charge-drain cycles and the voltage sag on transmit will drop as capacity builds to the rated 700mAh.

The Betacom handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery. How do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones store pairing credentials in volatile memory — when power drops to zero, that data is lost. This is not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the base station's paging or registration button — on most Betacom bases, hold the button for five seconds until the base LED flashes, then follow the handset on-screen prompts to re-pair.

The new battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base. Is the battery faulty?

A fully seated handset in the base should draw charge, not drain — if it's draining, the charge contacts on the handset or base are not making clean contact. Check the two gold contacts on the handset base for dust or oxidation and wipe them with a dry cloth. Also confirm the handset is pushed down until it clicks into the cradle; a half-seated handset draws standby power from the battery without receiving any charge current back. If the contacts are clean and seating is firm, measure voltage at the base dock pins — you should see 6–9V DC present.
