Fits DeTeWe Aastra cordless phone handsets with 2.4V Ni-MH battery compartments.
2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell restores talk and standby time to original specifications.
Battery slides into handset slot with flat connector — no locking tab, seats flush.
Bench testing confirmed steady 2.4V output under standby draw with stable BMS cutoff.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DeTeWe Aastra — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for DeTeWe Aastra cordless DECT handsets. It fits into Aastra-series handsets where the original pack has degraded and no longer holds a usable charge. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original specification.

  • Aastra handset compatibility: Aastra cordless handsets run a 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH configuration to match the base station's charge circuit. Swapping to a pack with mismatched voltage or chemistry will cause the base to flag a charge fault or simply refuse to top up the battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base. The BMS accepted the Ni-MH voltage profile without error, and the pack reached stable capacity by the fourth cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need a slow, uninterrupted charge to initialise capacity — skipping this step means the first few cycles will feel short.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells don't arrive at full capacity out of the box. The electrochemical structure needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. This is normal behaviour, not a defect. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator activates, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this for the first few cycles and talk time will increase noticeably.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting new pack

Aastra base stations read the incoming pack voltage before starting a charge cycle. A Ni-MH pack stored for several months can drop below the base's acceptance threshold — typically under 2.0V — causing the base to flag an error instead of charging. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. If the error persists, use a separate Ni-MH charger to push the pack up to around 2.2V, then return it to the base to complete the charge normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Aastra handset is losing range — it was fine on the old battery. What's happening?

Range drop after a battery swap points to voltage sag under RF load. When a Ni-MH pack hasn't been fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher, so the voltage dips the moment the handset transmits. This reduces the power available to the radio circuit, which cuts effective range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the sag will reduce as the cells condition — range should recover to normal.

The handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery. How do I fix it?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed — which happens during a battery swap. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset near the base, hold the base registration button until the handset prompts for pairing, then confirm on the handset. Check your Aastra handset manual for the exact button sequence, as it varies by model.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base. What's wrong?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins, rather than a battery fault. Check that the handset is fully and squarely seated — a slight tilt is enough to break the charge circuit. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then re-seat the handset and confirm the charge indicator activates. If the indicator lights up and the battery still drains overnight, the base charge circuit may not be delivering sufficient current.
