Fits GE 22925GE2 and 26 related cordless phone models; replaces OEM battery cell.
3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH delivers the voltage and capacity this handset requires for standard talk time.
Battery slides into the handset compartment with a single locking tab on the rear edge.
We cycled this cell through three charge-discharge runs on a GE base station; BMS voltage held steady at 3.6V under standby draw.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE 22925GE2 / 26920 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery for GE cordless phone handsets across the 22925GE2 and 26920 series, including the 26920GE1 and 26920N. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the same charging contacts the original pack used. Capacity is rated at 4.32Wh.

  • 22925GE2 and 26920 family fit: These models share a common 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH architecture, the same physical footprint, and the same base charging circuit voltage. One battery covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 26920GE1 handset. The base station accepted the new battery without error, and the BMS held within the expected 3.6V nominal rail throughout the discharge curve.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for a full 16 hours before the first call. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short leaves cells unevenly conditioned.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged, partially passivated state. The first three to five full charge-discharge cycles progressively break down that passivation layer and allow the cells to reach their rated 1200mAh capacity. Running the handset until it signals low battery, then returning it to the base for a full charge, accelerates this conditioning. By cycle five, talk time should match or exceed the original pack's performance at equivalent age.

Base station showing no charge light after swapping the battery

When a Ni-MH pack sits in storage for months, its resting voltage can drop below the threshold the base station uses to confirm a valid battery is present. Some GE base units will not begin the charge cycle if the pack reads too low. The fix is to briefly short-cycle the handset — power it on, let it run for two to three minutes, then seat it firmly in the base. That small draw pulls the cell voltage into a range the base charging circuit recognises, and the charge indicator should activate within 60 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE handset pairs fine but range dropped noticeably after putting in the new battery — what's causing that?

A fresh Ni-MH pack that hasn't completed conditioning cycles shows voltage sag under RF transmit load. The DECT radio in these handsets draws a short burst of current each time it transmits, and an unconditioned pack can't hold voltage steady during that burst. The handset's firmware interprets the sag as a weak battery and backs off transmit power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and range will stabilise at the rated level.

My 26920 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some GE DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears during a full power loss. The fix is a fresh registration: press and hold the "Find Handset" or "Page" button on the base for five seconds until the base beeps, then go into the handset menu under Settings → Register Handset and follow the on-screen steps. The handset should re-pair within 30 seconds.

The handset shows a low-battery warning every morning even though I left it in the base all night — is the battery draining in standby?

This is a seating issue in most cases, not a faulty cell. If the handset isn't fully seated on the charge contacts, the base shows a green light but delivers no current. Lift the handset out, clean the metal charge contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then press the handset firmly down until it clicks into the cradle. If the warning clears after the next overnight charge, the contact gap was the cause — not the battery capacity.
