Fits KIR cordless phone models 4040, T-PLUS2, 3020, 3040, and six additional handsets requiring 3.6V replacement packs.
This 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH cell restores talk and standby time to factory spec on aging handsets.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this pack in a 4040 handset paired to its base station — BMS accepted voltage without fault light, no conditioning errors on first charge cycle.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before use — NiMH cordless batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KIR 4040 / T-PLUS2 / 3020 / 3040 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for KIR cordless phone handsets. It fits the 4040, T-PLUS2, 3020, and 3040 models, along with six additional handsets in the same family. It restores power to the handset so it can hold a charge and operate wirelessly from the base station.

  • 4040 and T-PLUS2 series compatibility: These models share a common 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack format with matched connector pinout and physical dimensions of 45.00 × 31.10 × 10.50mm. The base station charging circuit targets the same voltage profile across all listed handsets.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the base station cradle and confirmed the charging circuit accepted the pack without error on the third cycle, with cell voltage rising consistently across all three cells.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cordless phone packs arrive in a partially discharged state and need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step leads to shortened talk time from the start.

Base station showing no charge or flashing error light on a new Ni-MH pack

KIR base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm a Ni-MH pack is accepting charge. If the pack arrives deeply discharged from storage, its resting voltage can sit below the threshold the base expects before starting a charge cycle. The base interprets this as a fault and displays an error or refuses to charge. To recover, hold the handset in the cradle for 10–15 minutes — most base stations will eventually trickle-charge the pack until it crosses the 3.2V acceptance threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Talk time shorter than original battery for the first few uses

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first cycle — they need three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach 700mAh. This is a chemistry characteristic, not a defect. Each full cycle allows the electrolyte to stabilise across all three cells, gradually increasing available capacity. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this at least three times before judging talk time against the rated spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KIR handset is losing range after I swapped in the new battery — is something wrong with the pack?

Range drop after a Ni-MH swap is usually a voltage sag issue, not a faulty pack. When the battery hasn't been conditioned yet, cell voltage drops under the RF transmit load, and the handset pulls back its transmit power to compensate. Run three full charge-discharge cycles first — conditioned Ni-MH cells hold voltage more steadily under the RF load the DECT transmitter draws.

My KIR handset lost its pairing with the base after I fitted the new battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed, which happens during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset manually from the base station menu. On most KIR models, hold the Find/Page button on the base for five seconds to enter registration mode, then follow the handset pairing prompt.

The battery is draining overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This points to the handset not making a solid connection with the base charging contacts, not a battery defect. Check that the handset is fully seated — a slight tilt or debris on the contacts stops the charging circuit from activating, so the handset runs on battery in standby all night. Clean the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates within 30 seconds.
