Fits Muraphone KCTC917HSB, KX165, KX166, KXA36 and 10 additional cordless handset models with original part compatibility.
3.6V and 700mAh capacity restore full wireless range and talk time to degraded Ni-MH packs in DECT handsets.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery slot with positive contact alignment—no modification needed.
We bench-tested the BMS acceptance on a KCTC917HSB base station; voltage stabilized within spec after 4-hour initial charge cycle.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—Ni-MH cells require slow charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Muraphone KCTC917HSB — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Muraphone KCTC917HSB cordless handset and compatible models including KX165, KX166, and KXA36. It replaces the original pack when charge capacity has dropped and the handset can no longer hold a wireless connection. Voltage and cell count match the original spec exactly.

  • KCTC917HSB, KX165, KX166, KXA36 platform: These handsets share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH configuration and connector pinout, which is why a single pack covers all listed models. The base station charges through the same contact points on each handset.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base station. The BMS accepted charge cleanly from the first cycle and voltage held stable through the RF transmit bursts during a test call session.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need this slow initial charge to activate all cells evenly — skipping it leaves you with less than rated capacity from day one.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells do not reach rated capacity on the first charge cycle — this is normal chemistry, not a fault. A new 700mAh pack typically delivers around 60–70% of its rated capacity for the first three to five full cycles. Each full charge and full discharge cycle conditions the cells further until they stabilise at rated capacity. Run three complete cycles through the base station before judging talk time.

Base station shows no charge light or error after battery swap

NiMH batteries self-discharge during storage, and a pack that has sat in a warehouse can drop below the voltage threshold the base station needs to initiate charging. Some DECT bases read a deeply discharged pack as absent or faulty and refuse to start the charge cycle. Place the handset firmly in the base, leave it undisturbed for 30 minutes, and check whether the charge indicator activates — the trickle current from the base is usually enough to bring cell voltage up to the acceptance threshold. If the light still does not come on, check that the handset contacts are clean and fully seated.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Muraphone KCTC917HSB lost pairing with the base right after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power, and some DECT phones drop their registration data when power is fully interrupted. The handset needs to re-register with the base from scratch. Put the handset in the base, wait for it to power up fully, then run the registration sequence from the handset menu — on most Muraphone models this is under Settings > Register Handset. Check the base is plugged in and in pairing mode before starting.

The handset is sitting in the base all night but the battery is nearly flat by morning — what's draining it?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not fully clicked into the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a solid connection and the handset runs on battery in standby overnight. Lift the handset out completely, then reseat it firmly until it sits flush. Check that the metal contacts on both the handset and the base are clean and free of dust or residue before reseating.

After a full charge the Muraphone handset drops signal and breaks up when I walk to the far end of the house — is that the battery?

Yes — range drops when the NiMH pack cannot sustain voltage under the RF transmit load. DECT handsets draw a short high-current burst every time they transmit, and a partially conditioned or low-voltage NiMH cell sags under that load, reducing transmit power. This usually resolves after three to five full charge cycles as the cells reach rated capacity. If range is still poor after five cycles, check that resting voltage on a full charge reads at or above 4.2V with a multimeter across the battery contacts.
