Range dropping on the CL-410 after a battery swap

The CL-410 DECT transmitter draws a short current spike each time it sends a radio burst to the base station. A Ni-MH pack that hasn't completed conditioning cycles can't sustain voltage under that RF load, so terminal voltage sags below the handset's transmit threshold. The handset responds by cutting transmit power, which shortens usable range. Running three to five full charge-discharge cycles brings cell internal resistance down and stabilises voltage under RF load.

Base station shows no charge light after fitting a new pack

Sharp CL-series bases check incoming battery voltage before engaging the charge circuit. A pack that has sat in storage can drop below the base's acceptance threshold — typically around 3.0V for a 3.6V Ni-MH cell. The base interprets this as a fault rather than a discharged battery and shows no charge indicator. To recover, seat the handset firmly in the base and wait up to 30 minutes — most Sharp bases run a trickle pre-charge stage that brings the pack above 3.0V before switching to full charge.
