Uniden DECT 2060 / DECT 2080 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BBTG0645001)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Uniden DECT 2060 cordless phone handset and compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers BBTG0645001, BT-1016, BT-1019, BT-1021, and BBTG0734001. It fits the DECT 2060, DECT 2080, DCX200, DCX200-SLV, and over 100 additional Uniden handset models.

  • DECT 2060 / 2080 and DCX200 series compatibility: These handsets share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH battery bay, connector pin layout, and BMS handshake threshold. One battery part number covers the full range because the base station charges to the same voltage ceiling across all models in this group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Uniden base charging circuit. The BMS accepted charge from storage voltage without triggering an error light, and the cell pair balanced correctly across three full discharge-charge cycles.
  • First charge after install: Place the handset in the base immediately after installing the battery and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partially discharged state need a slow, complete first charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens usable talk time from the first day.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells don't hit rated capacity on the first cycle. The electrodes need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the chemistry stabilises at 700mAh. If talk time feels short immediately after install, run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge. Repeat this process over the first week of use and capacity will reach rated levels.

Base station shows no-charge or error light with new pack installed

Uniden base stations check incoming battery voltage before enabling the charge circuit. A pack that has self-discharged during storage can arrive below the base acceptance threshold — typically under 2.0V — causing an error light instead of a charge indicator. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly in the base. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the base charging pins.

My Uniden DECT 2060 handset isn't pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?

No. Some Uniden DECT handsets lose their pairing registration when power is fully removed during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. Hold the Find Handset button on the base for about 10 seconds until the base enters registration mode, then follow the pairing prompt on the handset screen.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty battery. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the base cradle, the charging contacts don't make a consistent connection and the standby draw slowly pulls the pack flat. Check that the handset sits flush and that there's no debris on the base charging pins. A clean contact and a firm seat in the cradle should stop overnight drain.

Range dropped noticeably after fitting the new battery — the old one reached further even when it was weak. Why?

A Ni-MH pack below full capacity sags under the RF transmit load the DECT radio places on it. During the first few cycles, voltage dips under that load more than a conditioned pack would. Complete three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. If range is still reduced after conditioning, confirm the battery contacts inside the handset are not oxidised — clean them with a dry cloth and re-seat the pack.
