Fits Sony DCX200 cordless phone handset, replaces OEM part number BT-1008.
2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full talk and standby time to the handset.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment; locking tab secures the pack flush.
We bench-tested this cell on a DCX200 base station; BMS accepted voltage immediately.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony DCX200 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT-1008)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sony DCX200 cordless phone handset. It replaces the original BT-1008 pack when talk time has degraded from repeated charge cycles. Dimensions are 46.46 x 23.00 x 10.61mm — a direct physical match for the DCX200 battery compartment.

  • DCX200 handset compatibility: The DCX200 runs a 2.4V Ni-MH chemistry with a fixed connector orientation. This pack matches the voltage rail and physical form factor the handset expects — no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the DCX200 platform. The BMS handshake with the base station completed normally and the handset registered a full charge state after the conditioning sequence.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short will leave you with less talk time than the pack can actually deliver.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. The DCX200 base charges at a low trickle rate, so each cycle takes time. Do not judge the pack after the first use — put it through at least three complete cycles before drawing any conclusions. By cycle five, capacity should be within 10% of the rated 700mAh.

Base station shows no charge or flashes an error light after swap

A NiMH pack that has sat in storage drops below the voltage threshold the base station uses to confirm a valid battery is present. The DCX200 base may refuse to charge or flash an error light when it sees this low resting voltage. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — the base re-checks voltage on contact. If the error persists, the pack needs a brief external boost charge to lift it above 2.0V before the base will accept it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DCX200 handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

Some DECT phones lose their pairing data when the handset is fully powered down during a battery swap. The DCX200 stores pairing state in volatile memory, and removing the battery clears it. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration button — hold it for three seconds until the base confirms pairing. Once re-registered, the handset should operate normally.

The DCX200 battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — is the pack faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty pack. If the handset is not fully clicked into the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make consistent contact and the handset runs on battery overnight instead of drawing from the base. Press the handset down firmly until you feel it seat, then check that the charge indicator activates. If the indicator does not light, clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth and reseat.

Range dropped noticeably after fitting the new BT-1008 — was the old battery better?

Range drops when the NiMH pack cannot hold voltage steady under the RF transmit load. A new pack that has not been conditioned yet sags under the current draw the DCX200 radio pulls during transmission, which reduces output power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first — once the cells reach rated capacity, voltage sag under load drops and range returns. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the handset antenna is not obstructed by the battery cover.
