Fits Xact B650 cordless phone handsets replacing OEM battery designation B650.
3.6V and 1200mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sufficient capacity for full-day standby and multiple talk cycles on DECT cordless phones.
Battery connector slides into the handset pack slot with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed and does not reverse.
We bench tested this cell on a B650 base charger — the NiMH BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xact B650 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Xact B650 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores power to a unit that no longer holds a charge. Capacity figures are taken from product data — 4.32Wh total energy.

  • B650 handset fit: The B650 uses a single-cell Ni-MH pack at 3.6V with a physical footprint of 50.43 × 42.54 × 14.40mm. Any replacement must match that voltage and form factor — the base station charges to a fixed termination voltage calibrated for Ni-MH chemistry, so swapping to a different voltage or chemistry will cause charge errors or no-charge states.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charger and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake without triggering an error light. Charge current stayed within the base station's trickle and fast-charge windows across multiple cycles.
  • First-charge conditioning for Ni-MH: After installing the battery, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells in storage ship in a partially discharged state — a slow first charge lets the cells equalize and reach rated capacity. Skipping this step will produce shorter-than-expected talk time on early cycles.

Why the B650 handset shows a charging error with a new Ni-MH pack

DECT base stations detect battery presence by reading the pack's resting voltage. A new Ni-MH battery that has been in storage can sit below 3.0V — low enough that the base station's charge controller reads it as an absent or faulty pack and throws an error light. The fix is to briefly short-charge the pack at a low rate to push the resting voltage above the acceptance threshold, typically around 3.2V. Once the base station sees a voltage it recognises, normal charging resumes and the error clears.

Range dropping on the B650 shortly after a battery swap

The B650 handset transmitter draws a short burst of current each time it sends a signal to the base. If the Ni-MH pack hasn't completed its first conditioning cycles, internal resistance is elevated and voltage sags under that RF load. The handset interprets the voltage drop as low battery and reduces transmit power, which cuts range. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles — without putting the handset back in the base mid-cycle — and internal resistance will fall, stabilising transmit voltage above the sag threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My B650 talk time is much shorter than the original battery — is the replacement faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Each cycle, the cells build up charge memory clearance and internal resistance drops. Run the handset down until it prompts a low-battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle five, talk time should be at or close to the 1200mAh rated capacity.

The base station light stays red and never switches to green after I installed the new battery — what's wrong?

The base station's charge controller checks resting voltage before starting a charge cycle. A battery that has been in storage can drop below 3.0V, which the base reads as a bad or missing pack. Take the handset off the base, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — sometimes a hard reset of the charge circuit is enough. If the error persists, the pack needs a small pre-charge boost; place the handset in the base for 10 minutes, remove it, and reseat it to prompt the controller to re-read voltage, which should now sit above the 3.2V acceptance threshold.

My B650 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed — which happens during a battery swap. The handset needs to re-register with the base. On most B650 units, press and hold the Find/Page button on the base for three seconds until the base beeps, then follow the handset's registration prompt. Consult the B650 manual for the exact key sequence if the model variant differs slightly.
