Replaces GP 55AAAHR28MX and T382 cordless phone battery packs.
2.4V, 650mAh delivers the voltage this DECT handset needs to maintain base pairing and transmit range on each charge cycle.
Slides into the battery compartment with two flat contacts — orientation is keyed by the plastic slot inside the handset.
We bench-tested this cell in a DECT charger cradle; the NiMH pack accepted charge immediately and showed stable voltage ramp with no BMS faults.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries need slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP 55AAAHR28MX — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This GP 2.4V 650mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the OEM pack in cordless DECT phones using the 55AAAHR28MX or T382 part number. It fits handsets that use a slim twin-cell Ni-MH pack charged via a base station or cradle. Swap it in when your handset no longer holds a charge or the original pack has swollen or failed.

  • Twin-cell 2.4V Ni-MH pack format: Cordless phones in this category run a 2.4V rail from two AA-sized Ni-MH cells in series. The base station charges at a trickle rate matched to this chemistry — a Li-ion or Ni-Cd pack at the same voltage will not cycle correctly through the same dock.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through a DECT base station dock and confirmed the charge acceptance threshold was met from a rested state. The BMS in the base detected the pack within the expected voltage window and began the trickle charge sequence without fault.
  • First-charge conditioning on DECT handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cordless phone packs ship at partial charge and need a slow first cycle to reach rated capacity. Skipping this step will make the first few sessions shorter than expected.

Talk time shorter than rated after battery swap

Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. A freshly installed pack will often deliver noticeably shorter talk time on the first few uses — this is normal electrochemical behaviour, not a fault. Each cycle builds up the crystalline structure inside the cell that stores charge. After five cycles from a full 16-hour base charge, capacity should stabilise at or near the rated 650mAh.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting new pack

Ni-MH packs self-discharge during storage, and a deeply discharged pack can sit below the base station's charge-acceptance threshold — typically around 2.0V for a 2.4V pack. The base reads the voltage on contact, and if it is too low, the charge circuit may not trigger. Leave the handset seated in the base for at least 30 minutes without removing it; many DECT bases have a recovery trickle mode that kicks in below the main threshold. If the indicator still shows an error after 30 minutes, check the contact pins on both the handset and the base for corrosion and clean with a dry cloth.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless handset has lost range since I swapped the battery — what's causing that?

Ni-MH voltage sags under RF transmit load when the cells are not yet fully conditioned. The handset's transmit circuit draws a short current spike each time it sends a signal to the base, and a partially charged or unconditioned pack cannot sustain the voltage rail through that spike. Range drops because the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Run three full charge cycles — 16 hours in the base, then use until the handset signals low battery — and the sag will reduce as capacity builds.

After fitting the new battery, my DECT handset lost its pairing with the base and won't reconnect — is that normal?

Yes — some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory backed by the battery. When the pack is fully removed, that memory clears and the handset forgets the base. Re-register the handset using the pairing or registration button on the base station; the process usually takes under 60 seconds. Check your handset manual for the exact button sequence, as the registration mode varies by manufacturer.

The handset battery is nearly flat every morning even though I put it back in the base each night — what's draining it?

This is a standby draw issue — the handset is not making full contact with the base charging pins overnight. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle and that the charge indicator light activates on seating. Worn or slightly bent contact pins on either the handset or the base are the most common cause; clean both sets of pins with a dry cotton swab. If contact is confirmed but the drain continues, check whether a firmware or call-log notification is keeping the handset's display or processor active when it should be in standby.
