Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grandstream DP750 / DP720 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery fits the Grandstream DP750 base station system and DP720 DECT handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores cordless operation when the original cell has degraded. Capacity is rated at 3.33Wh per the product specification.

  • DP750 / DP720 compatibility: Both models run on the same handset platform and share an identical battery bay, connector pinout, and charge circuit voltage. One cell covers both units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the DP720 handset charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge at the standard 4.2V cutoff with no error flags on the base station display.
  • First-charge protocol for DECT Li-ion handsets: After fitting this battery, seat the DP720 handset firmly in the DP750 cradle and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before first use. The DP750 base uses a trickle-then-fast charge sequence — interrupting it early can leave the cell at 60–70% of rated capacity and skew the handset's battery indicator permanently.

Talk time shorter than rated after fitting the new battery

Li-ion cells shipped in storage state typically arrive at 30–50% charge. The DP720 handset reads this partial state and calibrates its fuel gauge from that baseline. Running the handset to low battery and completing two or three full charge cycles resets the gauge and allows the cell to reach its rated 900mAh capacity. After the third cycle, talk time should stabilise at the expected level.

DP720 handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the old battery cuts all power to the handset, which clears the volatile memory holding the DECT pairing link on some firmware versions. The fix is straightforward: on the DP750 base, press and hold the paging button for six seconds until the LED flashes, then run the subscription process from the DP720 handset menu under Settings → System → Register Handset. Re-pairing takes under two minutes and restores full base-station connectivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DP720 handset shows a full charge on the display but the battery dies much faster than it used to — what's happening?

The DP720's battery indicator calibrates to whatever state of charge it first sees after a new battery is fitted. If the handset wasn't run through a full discharge-to-charge cycle, the gauge anchors to a false baseline and reports "full" well before the cell is actually topped up. Run the handset until it shuts off from low battery, then charge it uninterrupted in the DP750 cradle. After two to three complete cycles the indicator tracks correctly and capacity reaches the rated 900mAh.

The DP750 base station shows a charging error light when I put the DP720 in the cradle after fitting the new battery — how do I clear it?

A Li-ion cell arriving from storage can sit below the voltage threshold the DP750 charge circuit expects before it begins a standard charge cycle. The base sees a voltage too low to recognise as a valid pack and flags it as an error rather than starting trickle charge. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — full contact on all cradle pins is required. If the error persists, check that the handset battery cover is fully closed, as a partially seated cover lifts the cell slightly off the contacts and causes intermittent low-voltage readings.

The DP720 handset drops calls or breaks up when I move more than a few metres from the DP750 base — the old battery never did this. Why?

DECT RF transmit power on the DP720 is drawn directly from the battery. When cell voltage sags under radio load — common with a new Li-ion cell that hasn't completed its first full conditioning charge — the handset reduces transmit power to protect the circuit, which cuts effective range. This is not a pairing or antenna fault. Fully charge the battery in the cradle before heavy use and run two complete charge cycles. Voltage stability under RF load improves significantly once the cell reaches its rated capacity.
