Fits NEC MH240 cordless phone handset, replaces OEM part number 690021.
3.7V lithium-ion cell delivers 1100mAh capacity — restores talk time and standby performance on this DECT handset after original battery degradation.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery slot with single locking tab; no tools required for installation or removal.
We bench-tested this pack in an MH240 unit — BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and voltage held steady under typical RF transmit load.
After installation, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NEC DECT phones need extended initial charging to calibrate the fuel gauge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NEC MH240 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (690021)

This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original NEC part 690021 in the MH240 cordless handset. It slots into the battery compartment and connects to the same terminals as the factory pack. Voltage and cell dimensions match the MH240 exactly — 55.60 x 36.00 x 5.60mm.

  • MH240 handset fit: The MH240 base station charges via contact pins on the handset cradle. This cell matches the voltage rail and physical footprint so the charging circuit sees the same load profile as the original pack.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery on the MH240 handset and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the base station without error codes. Voltage held steady through standby and active call draw.
  • First-charge protocol for Li-ion cordless handsets: Place the MH240 in its base immediately after fitting this battery and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state can read low voltage — the base station charger needs a complete cycle to calibrate the displayed charge indicator correctly.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the 690021 replacement

Li-ion cells arrive partially discharged from storage, typically around 3.0–3.2V. If you start using the handset before a full charge cycle completes, the usable capacity is lower than rated. The MH240 charge circuit also monitors voltage slope — an incomplete first charge means the base station may terminate charge early. Run two full charge-and-use cycles to let the pack reach its rated 1100mAh capacity.

MH240 handset not pairing with base after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset clears volatile memory on some models, including stored pairing data. The MH240 may show an unregistered or searching status on the display after the swap. Re-register the handset using the base station registration button — hold it for three seconds until the base enters pairing mode, then follow the on-screen prompt on the handset. Once paired, the handset should connect within 30 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MH240 talk time is much shorter with the new battery than it was with the original — is the replacement faulty?

Almost certainly not faulty. Li-ion cells leave storage at reduced voltage, often below 3.2V, and the first charge cycle may not fully saturate the cell if the handset was used before the charge completed. Run two full charge-and-discharge cycles — place the handset in the base until the charge indicator shows full, then use it until the low battery alert sounds. Talk time should reach rated capacity after the second cycle.

The base station shows a charging error light after I fitted the new battery — what's causing it?

A storage-depleted Li-ion cell can sit below the base station's acceptance threshold voltage. The charger detects an unexpected voltage level and flags it as a fault rather than beginning a normal charge cycle. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, then reseat it firmly in the cradle. If the error persists, check the contact pins on both the handset and base for debris — clean with a dry cloth and reseat again. The error should clear once the charger detects a stable voltage above 3.0V.

The MH240 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — why?

This points to a seating issue rather than a battery fault. If the handset is not fully seated, the charging contacts don't make reliable connection and the handset runs on battery power the entire time. Check that the handset clicks down into the cradle and that the charge indicator light activates. Also confirm the base station has mains power — a power interruption will stop charging without any visible alert on the handset.
