Fits Panasonic KX-A36, KX-T3806, KX-T3856, KX-T3860 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part 60AAM3BMU and GP T160.
This 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell delivers the voltage and capacity needed to restore full talk time and standby function on these DECT handsets.
Battery slides into the handset compartment with flat connector contact — no locking tab, orientation marked on the pack itself.
We bench-tested this cell in a KX-A36 base station; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and charged without fault codes or voltage sag.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries need slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic KX-A36 / KX-T3860 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (60AAM3BMU)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Panasonic KX-A36, KX-T3806, KX-T3856, and KX-T3860 cordless handsets. OEM part numbers 60AAM3BMU and GP T160 both cross to this pack. When the original battery stops holding charge, this swap restores the handset to normal standby and talk function.

  • KX-A36 and KX-T38 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack format, identical terminal spacing, and the same charge-detection circuit in the base cradle. One battery fits all four handset variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance on a KX-T3860 base station. The BMS accepted charge from the first cycle, and cell voltage climbed steadily to the 1.42V-per-cell float threshold without triggering the base error light.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones arrive partially discharged from storage — a slow first charge lets all three cells equalise and reach rated capacity. Skipping this step leaves noticeable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells go through a break-in period that typically takes three to five full charge-discharge cycles before capacity reaches the rated 2000mAh. Out of the box, the cells are not fully formed, and the first cycle will deliver noticeably less talk time than expected. Cycle the battery by using the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then returning it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times. By cycle four, capacity should stabilise at or above the original battery's performance.

Base station charge light not activating on a freshly installed pack

Panasonic base stations use a voltage-threshold check before initiating the charge cycle — if the pack voltage is too low from extended storage, the base may not recognise it as a valid battery. This shows up as no charge light or a flashing error indicator on the cradle. A brief boost charge using an external NiMH charger to bring the pack above 3.0V is enough to wake the cells. Once the pack clears that threshold, reseat the handset and the base will pick up normal charging from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Panasonic KX-T3860 has noticeably less range after swapping in the new battery — is something wrong?

Range drop after a battery swap is almost always a voltage issue, not a pairing or antenna problem. NiMH cells sag under the RF transmit load when they haven't been fully conditioned yet, and the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Run three full charge-discharge cycles first — seat the handset in the base until the charge light goes solid, then use it down to the low-battery warning each time. Range typically returns to normal once cell voltage stabilises above 3.4V under load.

My KX-A36 lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some Panasonic DECT handsets drop their base registration when power is fully removed during a battery change. This is a firmware behaviour, not a fault with the new battery. Re-register the handset by pressing the locator button on the base for three seconds, then following the handset's pairing menu — the exact steps are in section 3 of the KX-A36 user guide. Once paired, the handset should connect to the base within 30 seconds.

The handset is nearly dead every morning even though I put it back in the base each night — what's draining it?

Overnight drain points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging terminals, not a battery fault. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle — a slight tilt or debris on the charging pins breaks the circuit. Clean the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates. If the light comes on and the battery still drains overnight, check the base is connected to a live outlet and not a switched socket.
