Fits Philips ID 555, MC-163-500, ID 5552B, ID 5551B cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part numbers 5-2762, 5-2770, and BF021P.
This 3.7V, 500mAh lithium-ion cell restores talk time and standby hold on DECT handsets that won't charge or dropped capacity mid-call.
Connector slides into the handset battery slot vertically; no locking tab — seat fully until you feel it stop.
We bench-tested this pack on a Philips DECT base; BMS accepted charge within two cycles and held voltage stable under transmit load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — this Li-ion pack needs slow trickle charging on DECT platforms to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips ID 555 / ID 5551B / ID 5552B — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5-2762)

This is a 3.7V, 500mAh Li-ion battery for the Philips ID 555 series cordless DECT handsets. It fits the ID 555, ID 5551B, ID 5552B, and MC-163-500 models. It also cross-references OEM part numbers 5-2770 and BF021P.

  • ID 555 series compatibility: The ID 5551B and ID 5552B share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack and connector pinout as the base ID 555. The BMS handshake on all three models accepts the same charge profile, so one cell covers the full lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Philips base station charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge without triggering a fault cutoff. Voltage held steady at 3.7V nominal through full discharge and recharge.
  • First charge on a Philips DECT handset: Li-ion cells ship at a partial state of charge for transport safety. Place the handset in the base and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before first use — the Philips base charges at a low current that takes longer than a USB charger would.

Why the ID 555 loses range after a battery swap

The DECT radio module in the ID 555 draws a short current spike every time it transmits. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated — common in aged or deeply discharged packs — voltage sags under that RF load. The handset's transmit power drops as a result, which shortens usable range before any low-battery warning appears. A fresh cell with low internal resistance holds its voltage through the transmit spike and keeps the radio at full output.

Base station charge light stays off or shows error after fitting new battery

Li-ion cells that have been in storage can arrive below the base station's charge acceptance threshold — typically under 3.0V. The Philips base interprets this as a fault and refuses to begin charging. If the charge indicator stays dark or flashes an error, remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly. If the problem persists, the cell needs a trickle pre-charge to bring it above 3.0V before the base circuit will take over.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ID 555 talk time is much shorter than it was with the original battery — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong. Li-ion cells leaving storage often take two or three full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. Each cycle through the Philips base brings the cell closer to its full 500mAh. Run the handset down until the low-battery alert sounds, return it to the base for a complete charge, and repeat — by the third cycle talk time should stabilise.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some Philips DECT models clear their pairing data when power is fully lost. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration button — on the ID 555, press and hold the button on the base until the handset prompts for a PIN, then enter the default PIN (0000).

The ID 555 battery drains overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

Overnight drain while docked usually means the handset is not making clean contact with the base charging pins. Lift the handset out, check the gold contacts on both the handset base and the cradle for dust or oxidation, wipe them with a dry cloth, and reseat the handset. The charge indicator light should illuminate within 30 seconds of correct seating — if it does not, the contacts need a light clean with a dry cotton swab.
