Fits Phone Mate PM2400, PM2420, PM5800, PM5820 cordless handsets with standard battery slot.
Voltage is 3.6V at 700mAh capacity — delivers full talk range and standby time on DECT base stations.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with no locking tab; orientation is marked on the cell.
We bench tested this pack on a PM2400 base station; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Phone Mate PM2400 / PM5800 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Phone Mate cordless handsets. It fits the PM2400, PM2420, PM5800, and PM5820 models. Same voltage, same cell format, same connector orientation as the original pack.

  • PM2400 / PM2420 / PM5800 / PM5820 compatibility: These four handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.6V rail, and charging contact layout. One battery covers the full group — no adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a PM5800 handset. The base station accepted charge on the first seating, the BMS held the 3.6V rail steady under RF transmit load, and capacity stabilised after five full charge–discharge cycles.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phone packs need a slow initial charge to activate all cells evenly and reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens the usable charge per cycle from the start.

Range dropping mid-call after a new NiMH pack

DECT handsets ramp up transmit power when signal weakens. That RF load draws current in sharp bursts. A NiMH pack that hasn't completed its conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance, which causes voltage to sag under those bursts. The handset interprets the sag as a low-battery condition and reduces transmit power, cutting range. Run three to five full charge–discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops — the voltage sag shrinks and range recovers.

Base station charge light not coming on after battery swap

New NiMH packs ship in a partially discharged state. Some Phone Mate bases use a voltage threshold to detect a valid battery before starting the charge cycle — if the resting voltage reads too low from storage, the base won't initiate charging. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly so both charging contacts are flush. If the light still doesn't activate, check the contacts on the handset battery door for debris and confirm the resting pack voltage is above 3.0V before reseating.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PM2400 handset shows full bars after charging but the talk time is much shorter than the old battery — is the new pack faulty?

It's not faulty — it's unconditioned. NiMH cells ship partially discharged, and the first few cycles don't reflect full capacity. Run three to five complete charge–discharge cycles by letting the handset run down to the low-battery warning, then return it to the base for a full charge. Talk time climbs with each cycle and stabilises by cycle five.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones clear their pairing data when power is fully removed, which happens the moment you pull the old battery. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset near the base, press and hold the FIND/PAGE button on the base for several seconds until the base enters pairing mode, then follow the handset prompts to re-register. Check the PM2400 user manual for the exact button sequence — it takes under two minutes.

The battery drains completely overnight even though I leave the handset in the base — what's causing this?

Overnight drain in the base usually means the handset isn't making solid contact with the charging terminals. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle and that neither the cradle contacts nor the handset contacts have oxidation or debris on them. A cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol on the contacts clears most buildup. If the charge light stays solid after reseating, the standby draw issue is resolved.
