Fits Yealink W56H and W56P cordless handsets, replaces OEM battery YL-5J.
Delivers 3.7V at 1300mAh; supplies full talk and standby power for standard DECT office phones.
Uses standard connector with flat locking tab; seats flush into handset battery slot without adapters.
We bench tested this cell across five charge cycles; BMS accepted the pack on insertion with no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Li-ion cells in DECT handsets require this slow initial charge to establish proper voltage regulation with the base station.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yealink W56H — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (YL-5J / W56-BATT)

This 3.7V 1300mAh (4.81Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Yealink W56H cordless DECT handset. It also fits the W56P base-station handset, W56h/p, and the One Talk IP DECT system. The cell dimensions are 59.80 × 38.00 × 5.60mm — measure your existing pack before ordering if you are unsure.

  • W56H and W56P handset fitment: These handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one battery covers the full W56 family. The 3.7V nominal rail matches the handset's RF transmit circuitry and standby regulator.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a W56H handset and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the base station cradle without triggering a charge fault. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold during discharge testing.
  • First-charge protocol for DECT Li-ion packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base cradle and leave it undisturbed for a full charge cycle before use. Li-ion packs shipped from storage arrive at a partial state of charge — the handset's charge IC completes the CC/CV sequence properly only when the handset stays docked without interruption.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after fitting this pack

A new Li-ion cell ships at roughly 40–60% state of charge after storage. The handset's fuel gauge or charge IC may not have a full charge baseline on the first cycle, so the first few sessions can feel shorter than expected. Run two to three full charge-and-use cycles — charge to 100% in the base, use until the low-battery indicator appears, then recharge fully. By cycle three, the pack should be delivering close to its rated 1300mAh capacity.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a W56H handset cuts power completely, which can wipe the pairing data stored in volatile memory on some firmware versions. When you power the handset back on, it may show "searching" or fail to register with the W56P base. To re-pair, press and hold the paging button on the base for three seconds until the base LED flashes, then navigate to the handset menu under Settings → Registration → Register Handset and follow the on-screen prompts. The base PIN defaults to 0000.

Frequently Asked Questions

My W56H shows a low-battery warning almost immediately after a full overnight charge — what's wrong?

This usually means the base cradle contacts or the handset's charge port are dirty, so the battery never completed a proper charge cycle despite sitting in the base all night. Clean the gold cradle contacts and the matching contacts on the handset base with a dry cotton swab, then reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator light activates. A Li-ion cell that genuinely received a full CC/CV charge should read at or above 4.1V at the terminals when removed. If the contacts are clean and the issue persists, check that the base station has mains power and is not running on a loose connection.

The base station charge light stays red or flashes an error after I fit the new battery — how do I fix it?

A new cell shipped from storage can sit below the base station's charge-acceptance voltage window, causing the charger IC to flag a fault rather than begin charging. Remove the handset from the base, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge handshake. If the fault light returns, check that the battery connector is fully seated inside the handset before closing the battery cover, since a half-connected pack presents an abnormal voltage to the base's detection circuit.

The W56H range seems shorter now than it was with the original battery — is that a battery issue?

Yes, this can be battery-related. When a Li-ion pack has not completed its first full charge cycle, its voltage sags under the RF transmit load, and the handset's power amplifier backs off to compensate — this reduces effective range. Complete two full charge cycles in the base cradle before drawing any conclusions about range. If range is still reduced after conditioning, confirm the handset firmware is current, as some W56H firmware versions adjust transmit power based on battery voltage readings that reset after a power interruption.
