Fits HBC Patrol S and Radiomatic RV crane remotes, replaces OEM part BA221030.
3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry powers the handheld transmitter for overhead crane operation without voltage sag under solenoid load.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with positive terminal facing upward; locking tab engages flush against the housing edge.
We bench-tested this cell at full discharge and 50% load cycle; BMS accepted recharge without fault codes across five charge runs.
For remotes stored more than two weeks between uses, charge this pack monthly — Ni-MH loses capacity in idle periods and recovers fully on recharge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HBC Patrol S / Radiomatic RV — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BA221030)

This 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the BA221030 battery in the HBC Patrol S and Radiomatic RV handheld transmitters. These transmitters wirelessly control overhead cranes and lifting equipment in industrial environments. When the original cell loses capacity, crane commands become unreliable — this replacement restores full transmitter function.

  • Patrol S and Radiomatic RV compatibility: Both transmitters run on the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH platform with an identical connector and form factor. The BA221030 part number covers both units — no adaptation needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Patrol S transmitter. The BMS accepted the cell without error codes, and solenoid activation commands transmitted cleanly without voltage dropout.
  • Monthly charge discipline for idle transmitters: If this remote sits unused for weeks between jobs, charge it once a month. Ni-MH cells self-discharge faster than Li-ion — a cell left flat for months can drop below recoverable voltage and refuse to take a charge.

Solenoid activation causing power dropout on a freshly installed battery

When a solenoid or relay fires on the crane side, the transmitter draws a brief current spike to send the activation command. A Ni-MH cell at partial charge has higher internal resistance and can sag enough under that inrush to trigger a low-voltage cutoff in the transmitter circuit. The remote may flicker or restart at the exact moment you push a lift or travel command. Charge the BA221030 fully to 3.6V before putting the transmitter into service — this keeps internal resistance low and prevents command-linked dropouts.

Remote showing low battery immediately after fitting a new cell

A new Ni-MH cell ships at storage voltage — typically 1.1–1.2V — not full charge. The HBC transmitter reads this as a depleted cell and flags low battery the moment it powers on. This is expected behaviour, not a faulty battery. Connect the transmitter to its charger for a full cycle before use. The low-battery indicator should clear once the cell reaches operating voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HBC Patrol S remote won't turn on at all after sitting in the cabinet for three months — is the battery dead?

Most likely the Ni-MH cell self-discharged past the point the transmitter's circuit will accept. Ni-MH cells lose charge steadily even with no load — three months of storage can bring the cell below 1.0V. Connect the transmitter to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the cell is recoverable, the transmitter will boot normally once voltage climbs back above the minimum threshold.

The crane command cuts out the instant I press a lift or travel button — the remote restarts mid-operation.

This is a current-sag dropout. When the transmitter sends a solenoid activation command, it pulls a brief inrush of current that the BA221030 cell — if not fully charged — can't supply without the voltage collapsing. The transmitter interprets that sag as a dead battery and resets. Charge the cell fully before use and confirm the transmitter reads full charge on its indicator before operating the crane.

E-stop response feels sluggish on this remote — is that a battery issue?

E-stop transmission is voltage-dependent. A partially depleted Ni-MH cell increases internal resistance, which slows the transmitter's signal output at the exact moment fast response matters. This isn't a fault the remote will flag — it simply sends the signal slower. Before any safety-critical lifting operation, verify the battery is at full charge and the transmitter's charge indicator shows green.
