Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Hetronic NOVA XXL — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (68303600)
This 3.7V, 10200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Hetronic NOVA XXL wireless crane and hoist remote control system. It matches the original part numbers 68303600, 68108870, 68108875, and 68108880. Voltage and capacity are spec-matched to the NOVA XXL's onboard power management circuit.
- NOVA XXL platform fit: The NOVA XXL uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS handshake that checks cell voltage on startup. All four OEM part numbers above share the same connector, physical footprint (74.20 × 65.60 × 25.50mm), and voltage rail — this replacement satisfies that check without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated activation sequences, including solenoid-trigger events that create brief inrush current spikes. The BMS held without tripping during sustained load cycles, and cell voltage recovery after high-draw events stayed within the NOVA XXL's operational window.
- Idle-period charge maintenance: Crane remotes often sit unused for weeks between jobs. Charge this battery once a month during idle periods — Li-ion cells discharged below 2.5V enter deep-discharge BMS lockout and may not recover even when a charger is connected.
Solenoid activation causing power dropout on the NOVA XXL
When a crane remote triggers a solenoid or contactor, the inrush current can spike sharply for 20–50 milliseconds. A degraded or deeply discharged cell may sag below the BMS cutoff voltage during that spike, causing the remote to drop power mid-operation. This replacement's 10200mAh capacity provides the current reservoir needed to absorb that transient without the BMS tripping. If dropouts still occur after fitting a fresh cell, verify the battery is fully charged before use — a cell at storage voltage has less headroom to handle inrush.
NOVA XXL showing low battery immediately after fitting a new cell
Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.8V — not at full charge. The NOVA XXL firmware reads cell voltage on boot and reports low battery when it falls below its threshold, which can flag a new cell straight out of the box. This is not a faulty battery. Connect the remote to its OEM charger and bring the cell to full charge (4.2V) before drawing any conclusions about the replacement. The low-battery warning will clear once the cell reaches operating voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hetronic NOVA XXL remote won't turn on after sitting in storage for several months — is the battery dead?
Most likely the cell has dropped below 2.5V from self-discharge during storage, which triggers BMS lockout — a protection state where the battery stops responding to normal power-on attempts. Connect the remote to its OEM charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before trying to power on; some BMS circuits need a trickle-charge phase to reset before accepting a full charge cycle. If the remote still won't respond after 30 minutes on charge, the original cell may have discharged too deeply to recover and a replacement cell is the next step. Fit the new battery fully charged before first use.
The NOVA XXL remote cuts out the moment I activate a crane movement — it powers back on straight away but keeps dropping during operation.
This is a BMS overcurrent or voltage-sag trip caused by the inrush current spike when a solenoid or contactor energises. An aged or partially discharged battery cannot sustain the brief current demand, so the BMS cuts output to protect the cell — then resets almost immediately once the load drops. Replacing the battery restores the current capacity needed to handle that spike without tripping. Ensure the new cell is at full charge (4.2V) before use, since a cell at storage voltage has reduced headroom against inrush events.
The NOVA XXL remote's E-stop response feels slower than it used to — could that be battery-related?
E-stop response time on the NOVA XXL is voltage-dependent; as cell voltage drops under load, the radio transmission power and microcontroller response speed both degrade slightly, adding latency to the safety command loop. A battery that reads adequate voltage at rest may still sag under the radio-transmit load, which is the highest draw the remote places on the cell during normal operation. Check the resting cell voltage — anything below 3.7V on a "charged" battery points to capacity fade or an ageing cell that can no longer hold charge at the top of its curve. Replace the battery and verify it reaches 4.2V at end of charge before returning the remote to service.
