Fits Trilogy DL6100, DL6500, and related electronic door locks; replaces OEM part S6196.
6V, 5000mAh alkaline cell delivers sustained voltage across keypad, card reader, and access control circuits.
Battery slides into the vertical spring-clip slot; polarity marked on lock housing — confirm orientation before closing cover.
We tested this cell under repeated access cycles; voltage held steady through multiple keypad entries with no premature cutoff.
After battery insertion, cycle power off and on once, then test all access methods before relying on the lock—some Trilogy models delay Bluetooth handshake until this sequence completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Trilogy DL6100 / DL6500 Series — 6V Alkaline Replacement Battery (S6196)

This is a 6V, 5000mAh alkaline replacement battery for the Trilogy DL6100, DL6500, ETDLN, and ETPDN electronic door lock series. It powers the access control mechanism — keypad, card reader, and motor-driven latch. When the original pack depletes, this unit restores full lock operation.

  • DL6100 / DL6500 / ETDLN / ETPDN compatibility: These models share the same 6V power rail, S6196 form factor, and internal BMS handshake requirements. The same battery pack services the whole family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full lock cycle sequence — keypad entry, motor actuation, and card reader polling. The BMS held stable output through repeated motor-start draws without dropping below operating voltage.
  • Post-swap access method check: After fitting new batteries, test every access method — keypad, keycard, and Bluetooth — before closing the door. Some Trilogy lock firmware runs a power-on handshake that must complete fully before all credential types are accepted. Do this with the door open.

Why the DL6100 shows low battery immediately after a fresh pack is installed

The DL6100 reads battery state by measuring terminal voltage under motor load, not at rest. Alkaline cells stored for extended periods can sit at open-circuit voltage near 6V but sag significantly the moment the motor pulls current. If the lock sees voltage drop below its low-battery threshold during that first actuation, it logs the warning immediately. Use only fresh alkaline cells — check the manufacture date on the pack, not just the expiry date. A cell that has been on a shelf for two-plus years may pass a no-load test but still trigger the warning under the motor-start surge.

Bluetooth fails to connect to the lock after a battery replacement

A power interruption — even a brief one during battery swap — resets the Bluetooth radio state on some Trilogy lock firmware versions. The lock's radio reinitialises on first power-up, but the pairing handshake with the mobile app may not complete automatically. Open the Trilogy app, remove the lock from the device list, and re-add it fresh. If the lock still does not appear, hold the programming button for five seconds to force a radio reset, then retry the pairing sequence from the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Trilogy DL6100 is completely unresponsive after I swapped the batteries — keypad is dark and nothing works. What's wrong?

A brief interruption during the swap can leave the lock's processor in a hung state. Remove the battery pack, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert it firmly — the processor needs a full power cycle to reinitialise. Also check that the polarity is correct; reversed cells won't trigger any visible error on the keypad, they simply deliver no power. If the keypad lights up after a clean reinsertion but then goes dark again, check that the battery contacts are making firm contact with the pack terminals.

The lock motor sounds slow and laboured — the latch is moving but barely. Is this a battery problem?

Yes. The motor on the DL6100 draws a high current burst on each actuation, and cells running below full charge voltage sag hard under that load. Even cells that show 6V at rest can drop to 5.2V or lower mid-stroke, which slows the motor and stresses the gearbox. Fit a fresh set of alkaline cells and check the manufacture date — do not use cells that have been stored for more than two years. If the motor is still slow with confirmed fresh cells, check for mechanical binding in the latch bolt before assuming an electrical fault.

The Trilogy app says the lock is offline even though the batteries are new and the keypad is working fine. How do I fix this?

The keypad and Bluetooth radio are on separate power paths; a working keypad does not confirm the radio is back online. After a battery swap, the Bluetooth radio sometimes fails to complete its pairing handshake with the app. Go into the Trilogy app, delete the lock entry, and re-add it from scratch. If the lock does not appear during the scan, press and hold the lock's programming button for five seconds to reset the radio, then start the pairing process again from the app.
