Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Boyue Likebook Mars 7.8" — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (CLP307499)

This 3.7V, 2300mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the factory battery in the Boyue Likebook Mars 7.8" e-reader. It matches the original CLP307499 spec and fits the same connector and housing. Capacity figure is taken directly from product data — 8.51Wh total energy.

  • Likebook Mars 7.8" fitment: The Likebook Mars uses a slim LiPo pouch cell sitting beneath the e-ink panel. This cell matches the original 95.80 × 69.70 × 3.00mm footprint and the same JST-style connector, so the BMS on the mainboard recognises it without renegotiation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an e-reader mainboard. The BMS accepted the cell at initial connection, completed a full charge without tripping over-voltage protection, and reported state-of-charge correctly across the discharge curve.
  • Post-swap charging protocol for the Likebook Mars: The Likebook Mars firmware recalibrates its fuel gauge on the first full charge cycle after a cell swap. Skip that cycle and the battery percentage display will read inaccurately for weeks. Charge to 100% via USB before the first read session.

Why the Likebook Mars won't boot after a battery swap

LiPo cells in storage discharge slowly. If this cell has been sitting in a warehouse, its resting voltage may be below the 3.0V minimum the Likebook Mars bootloader needs to initialise. The device will appear completely dead — no logo, no screen flicker. Plug in the USB charger and leave it connected for at least 10 minutes before pressing the power button. At that point the cell should be above boot threshold and the device will start normally.

Battery percentage jumping around in the first few days after installation

This is a fuel gauge calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The Likebook Mars tracks battery state using a coulomb counter that was tuned to the original cell's charge curve. A new cell resets that baseline. The percentage readout stabilises after one or two complete charge-discharge cycles. Run the device down to below 10% from a full charge twice, and the firmware will lock onto the new cell's actual capacity curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Likebook Mars screen came on for a second after the battery swap, then went black and won't respond — what's happening?

That brief flicker means the bootloader started but the cell voltage dropped below the minimum threshold the moment the display drew current. E-ink screens pull a sharp current spike on first refresh, which causes a low-voltage battery to sag and trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff. Connect the USB charger and leave it for 15 minutes without pressing anything, then try powering on. If the cell was in storage, 3.2V–3.4V at rest can still be too low to survive that initial display load.

Page turns are noticeably slower on the new battery than they were before — is that normal?

E-ink refresh is voltage-sensitive. If the cell is sitting below 3.6V — which happens when it hasn't been fully charged post-swap — the display controller gets less headroom and the refresh cycle takes longer. This isn't a fault in the cell. Charge the device fully to 100% first, then test page turn speed. If the sluggishness disappears above 3.7V under load, the cell is fine and the issue was low storage voltage.

The Likebook Mars drains much faster when WiFi is on compared to just reading — is something wrong with this battery?

Nothing is wrong. WiFi on an e-reader draws roughly 10–15 times more current than the e-ink display alone during a page turn. The Likebook Mars was not designed for sustained WiFi use — it's a read-offline device that syncs in bursts. Turn WiFi off in settings after syncing your library and only enable it when downloading new titles. That single change will extend each charge cycle significantly compared to leaving WiFi on during reading sessions.
