Fits Wexler E5001 e-reader; replaces OEM part YT453949.
3.7V, 800mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full page-turn responsiveness and eliminates low-battery warnings on aged units.
Connector seats flat against the logic board; locking tab slides perpendicular to battery face and clicks positive.
We cycled this cell through five charge-discharge runs on an E5001 test unit; BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes after first insertion.
After installing, charge via USB for a full cycle before reading — e-reader firmware recalibrates battery percentage display only after complete charge-to-empty sequence.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wexler E5001 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (YT453949)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh lithium-polymer cell replacing part number YT453949 in the Wexler E5001 e-reader. It fits directly into the E5001 chassis and restores power to the e-ink display, page-turn controls, and USB charging circuit. Capacity matches the original specification at 2.96Wh.

  • E5001 cell format: The E5001 uses a slim 45.80 × 37.64 × 4.50mm pouch cell — a form factor chosen to keep the reader thin. The connector and polarity match the original YT453949 exactly, so no wiring modification is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the E5001 board and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without triggering a fault. The protection circuit responded correctly to both over-charge cutoff and low-voltage cutoff thresholds.
  • Post-swap charge cycle: After fitting this cell, connect the E5001 to USB power and let it charge uninterrupted to 100% before first use. The e-reader firmware recalibrates its battery percentage display against a full charge cycle — skipping this step causes inaccurate readings from the first boot.

Why the E5001 battery percentage jumps after a cell swap

The E5001 firmware tracks battery state using a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the old, degraded cell. When a new cell goes in, the counter has no reference point for the fresh capacity curve. This causes the displayed percentage to jump — sometimes showing 80% then dropping to 20% within a few page turns. One full charge-to-discharge cycle resets the counter's reference and stabilises the readout.

E5001 showing low battery immediately after new cell installed

Replacement cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — which sits below the threshold the E5001 firmware treats as a healthy charge state. The device reads this as a near-empty battery and displays the low battery warning before you even open a book. This is not a faulty cell. Connect the E5001 to a USB charger and charge it fully to 4.2V before attempting to power on normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Wexler E5001 won't turn on at all after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

The replacement cell shipped at storage voltage, and the E5001 needs a minimum boot voltage before the firmware will initialise. Connect the device to a USB charger and leave it for at least 10 minutes without pressing the power button — the screen may stay blank during this window. After that initial charge period, press and hold the power button for five seconds. If the cell was simply too low to boot, the device will respond once it crosses the minimum threshold.

The battery percentage on my E5001 drops from 60% to 5% in one reading session — is the new cell defective?

This is almost always a firmware calibration issue, not a cell fault. The coulomb counter carried over its reference data from the old, worn-out cell and is misreading the new cell's discharge curve. Run one complete cycle — charge fully to 100%, then read until the device shuts off from low battery — without interrupting it. After that single cycle the firmware recalibrates its counter to the new cell's actual capacity and the percentage readout stabilises.

WiFi sync is draining the E5001 battery far faster than just reading — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. WiFi on the E5001 draws significantly more current than the e-ink display does during normal reading — the radio can pull several times the display's idle load. A 800mAh cell at 3.7V has a fixed energy budget, and sustained WiFi sync consumes it quickly regardless of which cell is fitted. Sync over WiFi, then switch the radio off before reading to keep discharge rate in line with what you'd expect from a display-only session.
