Fits ELRO NV52 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part ELRD3SC1500 and NEB-NiCAD9.
3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 7.2Wh — maintains full illumination through mains outages in residential and commercial fittings.
Connector type is bayonet mount with polarity keyed slot; slides into the battery chamber with no force required.
We bench tested the pack on a simulated NV52 charge circuit; the BMS accepted the float charge within 2 hours and held stable voltage under 500mA discharge load.
Perform a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the complete rated duration — this confirms the cell accepts load and allows the charge controller to register the new capacity before the next compliance test.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ELRO NV52 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ELRD3SC1500)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement cell for the ELRO NV52 emergency lighting unit. It fits directly into the NV52 fitting and restores backup illumination when mains power fails. Capacity is 7.2Wh, matching the original specification.

  • NV52 fitting compatibility: The NV52 uses a 3.6V Ni-MH cell on a continuous trickle-charge circuit. The cell must match voltage and chemistry exactly — substituting a different chemistry breaks the charge controller's float voltage window and triggers a permanent fault LED.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full simulated mains-failure cycle. The charge controller accepted the cell without faulting, the BMS held stable under load, and the fitting exited test mode cleanly at the rated cell voltage.
  • First-cycle activation on NV52 fittings: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the NV52 test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and allows the charge controller to register cell capacity before any scheduled compliance test.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation in the NV52

A replacement Ni-MH cell shipped from storage typically sits at 1.0–1.1V per cell, well below the NV52 charge controller's float acceptance window. The controller reads this as a fault and holds the red indicator rather than entering charge mode. Leave the fitting powered on mains for 12–24 hours. Once cell voltage climbs into the acceptance band — typically around 1.2V per cell — the controller transitions to charge mode and the indicator shifts to green.

Emergency light dims and cuts short during a duration test after battery replacement

A new Ni-MH cell does not deliver full rated capacity on its first discharge cycle. The cell needs one complete charge-discharge cycle to reach the 2000mAh specification. If the fitting dims or cuts out early during a post-installation test, this is expected behaviour — not a faulty cell. Run a second full test cycle after the cell has completed a 24-hour charge, and the output will stabilise at rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

The NV52 fitting still shows a fault LED after I installed the new battery — what's causing it?

Some NV52 fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and do not auto-clear when a new cell is installed. First, confirm the cell is seated correctly and mains power is live to the fitting. Then locate the reset contact or push-button on the fitting's control board — hold it for three seconds while mains is connected. If the LED clears, the fault was a latched charge-controller state, not a cell problem.

The replacement battery has swelled inside the fitting — is the NV52 overcharging it?

Yes. Continuous trickle charge at elevated temperatures — common inside sealed fittings mounted near heat sources — causes Ni-MH cells to swell over time. The NV52's charge circuit is not temperature-compensated, so heat stress accelerates overcharge damage. Fit the new cell and check that the fitting is not mounted above a heat-generating luminaire or in an enclosed ceiling void without ventilation. If swelling recurs within months, the charge circuit itself may need inspection by a qualified electrician.

My NV52 emergency light passes the function test but fails the full rated-duration test — what's wrong?

A new Ni-MH cell needs one complete charge-discharge cycle before it delivers its full 2000mAh rating. If the light activates correctly but shuts off before the rated duration, the cell has not yet been conditioned. Allow a full 24-hour mains charge after the first test, then repeat the duration test. If the light still cuts short after that second cycle, check the cell terminal voltage under load — it should hold above 3.0V throughout the test.
