Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fullham FHSBATT3-F7L — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (FHSBATT3-F7L)
This is a 3.6V, 8000mAh (28.8Wh) Ni-CD replacement cell for Fullham emergency lighting units using the FHSBATT3-F7L battery. It fits directly into the Fullham fitting and connects to the onboard charge controller. Capacity and voltage match the original specification exactly.
- Fullham FHSBATT3-F7L compatibility: Fullham emergency lighting fittings using the FHSBATT3-F7L cell share a common charge controller calibrated to a 3.6V Ni-CD float voltage. Swapping chemistry or voltage will cause the charge controller to either undercharge or overcharge the cell, both of which cause early failure and compliance issues.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a load discharge test matching the rated duration draw. The BMS accepted the cell without fault, and the charge controller moved from red to green within the expected conditioning window.
- Post-installation test cycle: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell and confirms the cell accepts load before your next scheduled compliance inspection. Skipping this step is the most common reason a new battery still fails a duration test.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A fresh Ni-CD cell coming out of storage will not deliver full rated capacity on its first discharge. Ni-CD chemistry requires at least one complete charge-discharge cycle before the cell reaches rated capacity — this is a known electrochemical behaviour, not a defect. If a compliance test runs before this conditioning cycle is complete, the light will cut out early and log a fail. Run one manual full-duration test cycle immediately after installation to condition the cell before any scheduled inspection.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
The charge controller on Fullham fittings uses cell voltage to determine whether to accept a new battery into float charge. A cell stored for several months will sit below the float acceptance window — typically under 3.3V — causing the controller to hold the fault state and keep the indicator red. Leave the fitting connected to mains for a full 24-hour charge cycle without triggering a test. If the indicator has not moved to green after 24 hours, measure the cell voltage directly: a healthy Ni-CD at full charge should read approximately 4.2V across a 3-cell pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My emergency light passed the flash test but cut out halfway through the full duration test — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily faulty — a Ni-CD cell fresh from storage needs one full charge-discharge cycle before it delivers rated capacity. The flash test draws current for only a few seconds, so it passes; the sustained duration draw exposes the unconditioned cell. Fully charge the battery for 24 hours, then run a complete manual duration test by holding the test button for the full rated period. If it still cuts out early after that conditioning cycle, the cell has a genuine capacity fault.
The light dims noticeably about three minutes into a test — it doesn't cut off completely, just drops brightness.
Dimming under sustained load points to voltage sag from an undercharged or partially conditioned Ni-CD cell. Ni-CD voltage drops sharply when the cell has not completed at least one full charge cycle after installation or long storage. Allow a full 24-hour charge on mains power before testing — do not trigger any test during that window. If dimming continues after a full charge cycle, measure cell voltage under load; a drop below 3.0V during discharge confirms the cell is not holding charge correctly.
The fitting still shows a fault LED after I've installed the new battery and confirmed the connections are solid.
Some Fullham fittings latch a fault condition in the controller firmware and will not clear it automatically when a new cell is installed. The controller needs to see the cell voltage rise into the float acceptance range before it resets the fault flag. Leave the fitting on mains for a full 24-hour charge cycle without pressing the test button. If the fault LED remains after 24 hours of uninterrupted charging, check whether your fitting model requires a manual reset — on most Fullham units this is a brief press-and-hold of the test button after the charge cycle completes.
