Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Streamlight ClipMate USB — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (61128)
This 3.7V, 600mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the internal rechargeable battery in the Streamlight ClipMate USB clip-mounted work light. When the original cell degrades after repeated charge cycles, output dims noticeably and charge retention drops. Swapping in a fresh cell restores full brightness and charge capacity.
- ClipMate USB platform fit: The ClipMate USB uses a compact LiPo cell with tight dimensional tolerances — 46.00 × 20.10 × 6.70mm — so the replacement must match both footprint and voltage rail exactly. This cell meets those specs and connects to the onboard charging circuit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the ClipMate USB's integrated USB charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, reached full charge without fault flags, and delivered consistent output across low and high drive modes.
- LiPo swelling check: LiPo cells in compact housings can swell slightly when aged or over-discharged, pressing against the shell and stressing internal contacts. Before fitting the new cell, check the housing cavity for deformation. If the old cell is visibly puffy, do not attempt to flatten it — dispose of it through a battery recycling point.
ClipMate USB stepping down to low mode before the charge indicator reads empty
The ClipMate USB driver monitors cell voltage continuously and steps output down before the cell hits the protection cutoff. This is intentional — the driver reduces current draw to keep voltage above the BMS floor, extending usable time on the remaining charge. It is not a fault. Once the cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V under load, the driver will not sustain full output regardless of what the indicator shows. A fresh 600mAh cell pushes this threshold back significantly compared to a degraded original.
ClipMate USB not responding after being left discharged for several weeks
LiPo cells left at or near zero volts for extended periods drop below the BMS re-engagement threshold — typically around 2.5V — and the protection circuit locks out charging as a safety measure. The light will not respond to the USB charge cable at all. To attempt recovery, connect the USB cable and leave it undisturbed for 15–20 minutes; some charger circuits will trickle current into a deeply discharged LiPo to bring it back above 2.8V before switching to normal charge mode. If the charge indicator never activates after 30 minutes, the cell will not recover and needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ClipMate USB dims to almost nothing even though I just charged it — why won't it hold full brightness?
A degraded LiPo cell loses capacity unevenly — voltage drops sharply under even moderate current draw, so the driver steps output down almost immediately to protect the cell. This is not a driver fault; it is the cell failing to hold voltage under load. Check the cell's resting voltage with a multimeter after a full charge — a healthy 3.7V LiPo should read 4.1–4.2V. If it reads below 3.9V fully charged, the cell is at end of life and needs replacing.
The ClipMate USB flickers between modes on its own near the end of a charge cycle — is that a driver fault?
This is driver brownout cycling, not a fault with the driver itself. When cell voltage sags below the threshold needed to sustain the current draw of the active mode, the driver briefly drops output, the voltage recovers slightly, the driver ramps back up, and the cycle repeats. Switching to the lowest output mode manually stops the cycling and keeps the driver stable on the remaining charge. If this starts happening earlier and earlier into the charge cycle, the cell's capacity has degraded and should be replaced.
My ClipMate USB won't take a charge after sitting unused in a drawer for two months — the USB cable does nothing.
A LiPo left fully or partially discharged for weeks can drop below 2.5V, which triggers the BMS to block incoming charge current as a safety lockout. Plug the USB cable in and leave it connected for at least 20–30 minutes without touching the light — some charging circuits will push a low trickle to nudge the cell back above the re-engagement threshold of roughly 2.8V. If the charge LED does not activate within 30 minutes, the cell has over-discharged past recovery and needs to be replaced.
