Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nightstick XPR-5522GMX — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5522-BATT)

This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery built to fit the Nightstick XPR-5522GMX dual-light rechargeable flashlight. It replaces OEM part number 5522-BATT directly. When the original cell degrades, this swap restores full output across both the main and secondary light heads.

  • XPR-5522GMX compatibility: The 5522-BATT cell is specific to this dual-head form factor. The physical dimensions — 80.20 × 38.30 × 25.50mm — match the battery bay exactly, and the BMS communicates with the XPR-5522GMX driver circuit to enable mode control and low-voltage protection.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, discharge, and all output modes on the XPR-5522GMX. The BMS held the correct cutoff voltage under turbo draw, and the driver stepped down output cleanly at low-cell threshold without tripping a hard shutdown.
  • Single-cell care on this light: The XPR-5522GMX runs one cell. If you use a partially depleted spare alongside this new battery at different times without full cycling in between, the driver will see inconsistent voltage on startup and may default to reduced output — always fully charge this cell before first deployment.

Why the XPR-5522GMX steps down brightness before the low-battery indicator fires

The XPR-5522GMX driver runs a constant-current circuit that monitors cell voltage continuously. When the cell drops below the driver's brownout threshold — typically around 3.0V under load — the driver cuts current to the LEDs to protect the cell, even if the battery indicator hasn't triggered yet. This is intentional protection behaviour, not a fault. The indicator trips slightly later because it reads resting voltage, not loaded voltage. If the light dims noticeably in turbo before any warning, the cell is near end of charge.

XPR-5522GMX flickering or cycling between modes near end of charge

When the cell voltage sags under high-current draw, the driver may oscillate — briefly cutting power, the cell voltage recovers, power resumes, then sags again. This produces a flicker or appears as the light cycling modes on its own. It is not a driver fault or a defective battery. Switch to a lower output mode immediately — this reduces current draw, stops the voltage sag cycle, and lets you finish the task before recharging. Recharge when the cell reaches 3.0V resting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My XPR-5522GMX dims to a lower mode on its own in turbo — is the battery failing or is this normal?

This is the driver's brownout protection stepping in, not a failing cell. Turbo draws enough current to pull the cell voltage below the driver's threshold, so it steps output down to protect the battery. It happens faster with an aged cell but can occur with a new one too on a partial charge. Run turbo only on a full charge and switch to high or medium for extended use.

The XPR-5522GMX turbo mode seems to drain the battery far faster than the standard mode — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected. Turbo mode drives the LEDs at peak current, which can draw five to ten times more from the cell than standard mode does. The 3400mAh capacity is the same, but the rate of discharge is dramatically higher under turbo. For extended operations, run standard or high mode and reserve turbo for short bursts where maximum output is critical.

My replacement 5522-BATT charged fully but the light won't turn on — what do I check first?

If the cell charged to 4.2V but the light won't fire, the most common cause is a BMS that tripped into protection mode during shipping or a deep discharge state. Insert the battery and connect the charger for 10–15 minutes even if the light stays off — this can wake a BMS in deep-discharge lockout. If the driver still shows no response after a full charge cycle, check the contact pins in the battery bay for debris or corrosion and clean with a dry cloth before retesting.
