Fits Garmin nüvi 770 and nüvi 770T GPS navigators, replacing OEM part number 010-00657-06.
This 3.7V 1250mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full navigation runtime on your portable GPS unit.
Connector type is proprietary Garmin two-pin; orientation is keyed — slides into the battery slot and locks flush.
We bench-tested this cell on a nüvi 770 platform; the BMS accepted full charge in under two hours with no fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Nuvi 770 / 770T — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (010-00657-06)

This 3.7V 1250mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the factory battery in the Garmin Nuvi 770 and Nuvi 770T portable GPS navigators. It matches the OEM part number 010-00657-06 and fits the 60.80 × 36.60 × 5.30mm cavity. Capacity is 4.63Wh — identical to the original specification.

  • Nuvi 770 and 770T compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same connector pinout and BMS handshake. One cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Nuvi 770 unit. The BMS accepted charge from the OEM cradle without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before your first drive. A full power interruption forces a cold start — the GPS receiver needs 5–10 minutes to re-acquire satellite almanac data. Subsequent starts return to normal warm-start speed once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when the Nuvi 770 battery level drops below 20%

The Nuvi 770's receiver can pull back sensitivity as the cell voltage sags toward the low-voltage threshold. At reduced receiver sensitivity, the unit holds lock on fewer satellites, which widens the position error circle. This shows up as map position jumping between streets or routing decisions that seem off. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load maintains full receiver performance.

Nuvi 770 shuts off without warning instead of showing a low-battery alert

The on-screen battery indicator on the Nuvi 770 is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different curve until it completes two or three full charge cycles. During that break-in period, the indicator can read 20–30% and then the unit shuts off immediately when cell voltage hits the BMS cutoff at approximately 3.0V. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles to let the indicator recalibrate against the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nuvi 770 saved routes and favourite places disappeared after I replaced the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Nuvi 770 holds some navigation data in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that RAM loses power and clears. Saved favourites stored to internal flash survive the swap, but any unsaved recent routes or active trip logs will not. Before pulling the old battery, export your favourites through the device menu so you have a backup to restore.

After fitting the new battery, my Nuvi 770 took nearly 10 minutes to find a GPS signal — did something go wrong during the install?

Nothing went wrong. A full power-off forces a cold start, which means the receiver has no cached satellite almanac and must download it from scratch. That takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Place the unit near a window or take it outside, leave it stationary, and let it complete the acquisition. Every warm start after that will lock within a minute.

My Nuvi 770 battery drains noticeably faster when I am actively navigating than when the device is just sitting idle — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is working as expected. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity and keeps the 4.3-inch backlit display on continuously — both are high-drain loads compared to standby. The difference in draw between active navigation and screen-off idle is significant for a 1250mAh cell. Lowering screen brightness in the display settings is the single most effective step to extend time between charges on this unit.
