Fits Navigon 70 Easy, 70 Plus, and 70 Premium GPS navigators; replaces Topaz and TOPAZPCZF1045003501 battery packs.
This 3.7V lithium-polymer cell delivers 1200mAh capacity; equivalent energy to the OEM pack for full navigation sessions.
Connector plugs straight into the battery slot with no adapter; locking tab secures the cell against vibration during vehicle use.
We bench-tested this cell in a Navigon 70 Easy unit; BMS registered full voltage on first power-up with stable discharge curve across navigation and standby modes.
After installing this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navigon 70 Easy / 70 Plus / 70 Premium — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Topaz / TOPAZPCZF1045003501)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Navigon 70 Easy, 70 Plus, and 70 Premium portable GPS navigators. It fits the internal battery slot directly and connects to the device's power management circuit at the correct voltage rail. Dimensions are 60.24 × 36.53 × 4.92mm — measure your existing cell before fitting if you are unsure.

  • 70 Easy, 70 Plus, and 70 Premium compatibility: All three models share the same internal battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and 3.7V power rail. The same cell serves all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GPS navigation unit, confirming the protection circuit trips correctly at undervoltage and that the cell accepts a full charge without thermal anomaly.
  • Cold-start behaviour after fitting: After installing this cell, take the device outdoors and power it on before driving. GPS units perform a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite acquisition can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent locks come in under a minute once ephemeris data is stored.

GPS accuracy dropping when the battery charge is low

The Navigon 70 series reduces power draw to the GPS receiver module when battery voltage sags below a threshold. This shows up as slower position updates, increased drift on the map, or the blue dot jumping between streets. It is not a software glitch — the receiver is running at reduced sensitivity to stay within the available power budget. Keeping the cell charged above 3.5V during active navigation prevents the receiver from entering this reduced-power state.

Device shuts off without warning despite the battery indicator showing charge remaining

The on-screen battery indicator in the Navigon 70 series is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell — or any cell with different internal resistance — will read inaccurately until the device completes two or three full charge and discharge cycles. During this calibration period, the device hits its undervoltage cutoff threshold at 3.2V while the indicator still shows one or two bars. Run two full cycles and the indicator will track the actual charge state correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Navigon 70 Easy lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Navigon 70 series stores some route and POI data in RAM that is battery-backed — when the cell is fully removed and power is interrupted, that data clears. Saved favourites stored to internal flash memory are usually retained, but active routes and recent destinations held in volatile RAM are lost on full power removal. Before swapping the cell, sync your favourites to a PC via Navigon Fresh or note your key destinations, then re-enter them after fitting the new battery.

My GPS is taking 8–10 minutes to find a satellite signal after fitting this replacement battery — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong. After a full power interruption, the GPS receiver loses its stored almanac and ephemeris data — the satellite position tables it uses for fast lock. Without that data, it runs a cold start and must download fresh tables from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Park outdoors away from tall buildings, leave the unit powered on and stationary, and let it complete the fix. Every lock after that first one will come in under a minute.

The Navigon 70 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus when the screen is just on — is something wrong with this cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the backlit touchscreen simultaneously — those are the two highest draws in the device. Screen brightness is the variable you control: dropping brightness by one or two steps significantly reduces total current draw from the 1200mAh cell. If drain still seems excessive after reducing brightness, check that the map rendering isn't stuck recalculating — a route that keeps rerouting keeps the processor and receiver at full load continuously.
