Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom One 125 / One 130 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FM58350631376)

This 3.7V, 950mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the TomTom One 125, One 130, and One 130S GPS navigators. All three models share the same battery footprint, connector, and BMS communication profile. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — 950mAh / 3.52Wh.

  • One 125, One 130, and One 130S compatibility: These three models run on the same 3.7V power rail and use an identical physical connector and cell cavity. The BMS on each unit reads the same voltage curve, so no handshake mismatch occurs across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a One 130 unit and monitored BMS charge acceptance across a full cycle. The protection circuit responded correctly to both low-voltage cutoff and overcharge thresholds with no error flags.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. GPS units perform a cold start after full power removal — first fix typically takes 5–10 minutes, while subsequent warm starts resolve in under a minute.

Why the One 125 shuts off without any low-battery warning

The One 125 battery indicator is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. After the original cell degrades, the device's voltage threshold model no longer matches the actual remaining capacity. The unit can show two or three bars and then cut off immediately because the real voltage drops faster than the display predicts. Once a new cell is fitted, the indicator recalibrates over one or two full charge-discharge cycles and low-battery warnings will appear at the correct time again.

Saved routes and POIs missing after battery replacement

Some TomTom One models store recent route history and certain POI data in battery-backed volatile memory. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that RAM. Downloaded maps stored in flash memory are unaffected. Before swapping the battery, export any saved favourites or custom POIs via TomTom HOME so they can be restored after the new cell is fitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom One 130 is taking ages to find satellites after I swapped the battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery completely clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, which forces a cold start. A cold start can take 5–10 minutes to acquire a full fix, compared to under a minute for a warm start when the device retains that data. Stand outdoors with a clear sky view and leave the unit powered on — subsequent starts after the first fix will be much faster.

The battery indicator on my One 125 jumps straight from two bars to dead with no warning — what causes that?

The voltage-threshold model the One 125 uses to estimate remaining charge was calibrated for the original cell's specific discharge curve. When a new cell is fitted, the model is temporarily out of sync and the cutoff threshold can be hit before the indicator reflects it. Run one or two full charge-discharge cycles and the indicator will track the new cell's curve correctly. After calibration, low-battery warnings should appear at around 3.5V as expected.

Why does the battery drain so much faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when the screen is idle?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the touchscreen backlight simultaneously — both are significant power draws on a 950mAh cell. The GPS receiver alone accounts for a meaningful share of current draw, and at full display brightness that figure roughly doubles. Reducing screen brightness in the TomTom display settings is the single most effective step to extend charge between top-ups on longer journeys.
