Fits TomTom One XL, XL 325, and EDINBURGH models; replaces OEM part numbers F724035958, F702019386, and LG ICP523450 C1.
3.7V Li-ion cell rated 800mAh delivers 2.96Wh total energy to sustain GPS receiver and touchscreen through full navigation sessions.
Connector slots vertically into the battery compartment with no locking tab; contact surfaces face downward toward the device PCB.
We bench-tested this cell on TomTom GPS simulator; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held voltage steady across a 4-hour discharge cycle.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after battery swap takes 5–10 minutes for first lock versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom One XL / XL 325 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (F724035958)

This 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the TomTom One XL, XL 325, Edinburgh, and One 3rd Edition portable GPS navigators. It restores power to the touchscreen, processor, and GPS receiver when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 44.30 × 34.10 × 5.00mm — measure your existing cell before fitting if you are unsure.

  • One XL and XL 325 platform compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The One 3rd Edition and Edinburgh variant use the same cell under different regional SKUs. One cell covers all four.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the OEM part numbers F724035958, F702019386, and Quanta VF9. The BMS handshake completed on first connect, charge acceptance was normal, and no fault codes were triggered during discharge cycling.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After installing this cell, power the unit on outdoors with a clear view of the sky. The GPS receiver performs a full cold start after any complete power loss — first satellite fix can take 5 to 10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery charge drops below 20%

The TomTom One XL scales back GPS receiver sensitivity as the cell voltage falls toward the low-voltage cutoff. This is a firmware-level power saving measure, not a hardware fault. Users notice position drift or slower route recalculation in the final charge segment. Keeping the unit on a car charger during active navigation eliminates this behaviour entirely.

Device shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

After a full battery swap, the fuel gauge calibration in the One XL is reset. The shut-off voltage threshold can trigger before the on-screen indicator shows low battery, because the device has no accurate state-of-charge history for the new cell. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles on the new battery to let the firmware recalibrate the indicator. After that, the low-battery warning should appear at approximately 3.5V before shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom One XL lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is there any way to get them back?

Saved routes, favourites, and some settings on the One XL are held in battery-backed RAM, which loses its state the moment the cell is fully removed. If you did not export your favourites via TomTom HOME before the swap, the device-side data is gone. Going forward, connect the unit to TomTom HOME on a PC and back up your POIs and favourites to the computer before any future battery work. Any routes saved to the SD card rather than internal memory are unaffected.

It took nearly 10 minutes to get a GPS fix after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the unit?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery cuts all power to the GPS receiver, which discards its almanac and ephemeris data — the satellite position tables it uses for fast fixes. The One XL has to rebuild those tables from scratch on first power-up outdoors, which takes 5 to 10 minutes with a clear sky view. Once the almanac is cached, warm starts on subsequent power-ups return to under a minute.

The One XL drains the new battery noticeably faster when I am actively navigating compared to when it is just sitting on my desk — is the cell faulty?

The cell is working correctly. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, touchscreen backlight, and processor simultaneously, which draws significantly more current than standby. The backlight alone accounts for a large share of the load — drop screen brightness one or two steps in the TomTom display settings to reduce drain during long trips. If the unit is in the car, use the vehicle charger to keep the cell topped up and remove the load from the battery entirely.
