Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yakumo Delta X 5BT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1250mAh (4.63Wh) lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Yakumo Delta X 5BT portable GPS navigator. The Delta X 5BT is a handheld navigation unit used for vehicle routing and real-time positioning. Fit this battery when the original no longer holds charge or causes unexpected shutdowns during active navigation.

  • Delta X 5BT cell match: The Delta X 5BT uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a low-current BMS suited to the GPS receiver and display load — not a high-drain tool cell. Voltage, physical dimensions (50.00 × 36.60 × 6.60mm), and connector orientation match the original bay.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge under GPS receiver plus display load. The BMS held cutoff voltage cleanly and did not trip early under the combined draw of active navigation.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors with a clear sky view. The GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is restored.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery charge drops below 20%

Some GPS units, including compact navigators in this class, reduce receiver sensitivity at low battery to conserve power. This shows as position drift or a weaker satellite signal count on the status screen. The Delta X 5BT may report fewer satellites locked and show a wider accuracy radius. Keep the battery above 3.7V under load to maintain full receiver performance.

Device shuts off without a low-battery warning

This happens when the fuel gauge or voltage-threshold indicator is uncalibrated after fitting a new cell. The unit's internal counter still expects the old, degraded battery's discharge curve, so the visual warning never triggers before the BMS cutoff hits. Fix this by running one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After that cycle, the indicator aligns to the new cell's curve and warning thresholds fire at the correct voltage — typically around 3.5V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Delta X 5BT saved routes and favourites were gone after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Delta X 5BT stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses power the moment you remove the old cell. A full power interruption clears that volatile memory. Data saved to internal flash or an SD card is unaffected. Before swapping, export or note any routes you need — the device's save-to-card function is the only way to protect them across a battery change.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged?

Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, so the unit has no record of which satellites to expect. That forces a cold start, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles use a warm start and lock in under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt. Stand outside with an unobstructed view of the sky for the first fix after any battery swap.

The Delta X 5BT drains noticeably faster during active navigation than it does sitting on standby — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display simultaneously — that combined draw is significantly higher than standby, where the screen dims and satellite polling slows. Reducing display brightness during navigation is the single most effective way to reduce current draw. The GPS receiver itself pulls a near-constant load, so screen brightness is the main variable you can control to extend use between charges.
