Fits Tansonic PNA 6000 GPS navigator; replaces OEM battery for this handheld GPS unit.
3.7V and 1250mAh capacity restore full power cycles to aging packs; voltage matches original spec exactly.
Connector and locking tab match Tansonic PNA 6000 slot; no physical modification needed on insertion.
We bench tested this cell on cold-start GPS acquisition; BMS engaged normally and held voltage steady through satellite lock cycles.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes five to ten minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tansonic PNA 6000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1250mAh Li-ion battery for the Tansonic PNA 6000 portable GPS navigator. It fits directly into the PNA 6000 and restores power to a unit where the original cell no longer holds a usable charge. Dimensions are 50.00 × 36.60 × 6.60mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • PNA 6000 fit: The PNA 6000 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack at this exact form factor. No adapters or connector modifications are needed — the cell slots into the original battery bay using the same contact arrangement as the factory unit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under GPS-active load conditions. The BMS held voltage within the expected 3.0V–4.2V window throughout and triggered protection cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • First satellite fix after fitting: After any full power removal, the PNA 6000 performs a cold start. Power the unit on outdoors in an open area and allow 5–10 minutes for the first satellite fix. Subsequent warm starts complete in under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the PNA 6000

When cell voltage drops below approximately 3.3V, some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity to lower current draw. On the PNA 6000, this can show as position drift or slower track updates before the low-battery indicator even appears. The receiver is pulling less power to keep the unit alive longer, but signal processing suffers. Keeping the battery above 50% charge during active navigation avoids this threshold entirely.

PNA 6000 shutting off without warning at low battery

After fitting a new cell, the PNA 6000's charge indicator may not be calibrated to the new battery's discharge curve. The unit can show one or two bars remaining and then cut off abruptly — the shutdown threshold is hit before the visual warning catches up. This corrects itself after two or three full charge-discharge cycles. Run the unit down to auto-shutoff, then charge fully to 4.2V each time until the indicator tracks accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PNA 6000 lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is there any way to get them back?

Some GPS navigators store route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses its contents the moment main power is fully removed. If your PNA 6000 held routes in volatile memory rather than internal flash, that data is gone once the cell is disconnected. Check the device's storage settings — if routes can be saved to internal flash or an SD card, that location survives a battery swap. Going forward, export routes to the SD card before any battery work.

After fitting the new battery, my PNA 6000 is taking 8–10 minutes to get a satellite lock — was it faster before?

That delay is a cold start, not a fault with the battery. When the GPS loses all power, it discards its cached almanac and ephemeris data and has to re-download satellite positions from scratch. First fix after a full power interruption takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the unit has completed one full lock, subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute because the almanac is cached again.

The PNA 6000 drains noticeably faster during active turn-by-turn navigation than it does sitting on standby — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously, which is the highest-load state the device operates in. Standby draws only a fraction of that current because the receiver is polling at a low rate and the screen may be dimmed or off. Reducing screen brightness during navigation is the single most effective way to cut active load. The 1250mAh capacity of this cell matches the factory spec — the draw difference is the device, not the battery.
