Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gardena R38Li / R50Li / R75Li — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (574 47 68-01)
This 18V 2500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on Gardena robotic and cordless lawn mowers including the 124562, R38Li, R50Li, and R75Li series. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector format so the mower's charging dock and BMS handshake function as expected. Capacity is 2500mAh (45Wh), sourced to match the original specification.
- R38Li / R50Li / R75Li platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One replacement pack covers all three mower lines without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through simulated blade-load draws on the bench. The BMS held charge acceptance correctly and cutoff voltages sat within the OEM protection window across repeated discharge cycles.
- Seasonal storage before first spring mow: If the mower sat unused through winter, bring the battery indoors for at least 12 hours before the first run. Below 10°C, Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply — the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before the first row is finished.
BMS cutoff under thick grass or wet-lawn blade load
The blade motor on the R-series draws significantly more current through dense or wet grass than on a dry, short lawn. If the instantaneous current exceeds the BMS protection threshold, the pack shuts down mid-cut to prevent cell damage. This is not a faulty battery — it is the protection circuit doing its job. Let the pack rest for five minutes, clear any clumped cuttings from the blade channel, then restart on a drier pass.
Charger rejecting the pack after sitting all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months. A pack stored through winter can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 12V for an 18V pack — and the dock will show a fault or simply refuse to start a charge cycle. Place the battery in a warm room (above 15°C) for two hours first. If the charger still rejects it, check cell voltage with a multimeter at the battery terminals; anything above 10V can usually be recovered by a slow pre-charge using a compatible Li-ion charger set to a 0.1C trickle rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Gardena mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's causing that?
That pattern points to thermal protection in the BMS, not a faulty cell. The blade motor generates heat under continuous load, and once the pack temperature hits the protection threshold, the BMS cuts output until the cells cool. Allow a five-minute cooldown with the mower stationary, then resume. If it keeps happening on normal grass, check that the blade isn't clogged — restricted airflow around a jammed blade accelerates pack heating.
The battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after the first few charges — is something wrong?
New cells run slightly warmer than a worn-in pack for the first four to five cycles while the chemistry stabilises. We measured surface temperature on this pack during bench conditioning and it stayed within the safe operating range throughout. After five full charge-discharge cycles, heat output normalises. If the pack is too hot to hold comfortably after cycle six, stop using it and check the charger output voltage at the dock terminals.
My Gardena robotic mower takes noticeably longer to finish its mowing zone in cold weather — is the battery failing?
Cold weather reduces Li-ion capacity — at 5°C, an 18V pack can deliver meaningfully less usable energy than at 20°C. This is normal electrochemical behaviour, not cell failure. Store the battery indoors overnight before a cold-morning mow and fit it to the mower just before you send it out. If reduced coverage persists at temperatures above 15°C after the first five cycles, the cells may need a full conditioning cycle: run the pack down to the mower's auto-stop point, then charge fully before the next use.
