Husqvarna Automower 105 (2016–2019) — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is an 18V Li-ion battery with 1500mAh (27Wh) capacity for the Husqvarna Automower 105 robotic lawn mower. It fits the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 model years, along with additional compatible variants. The battery slots into the mower's battery bay and powers both the blade motor and the drive wheels during autonomous mowing cycles.

• Automower 105 multi-year fit: The 2016 through 2019 Automower 105 uses the same 18V battery housing, connector, and BMS communication protocol across these model years. The cell pack and protection board are interchangeable without any modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on the Automower platform. The BMS handshake initialised correctly, and the protection board responded to simulated blade-load spikes without nuisance tripping under normal lawn conditions.
• Seasonal start-up tip: Before first use of the season, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor inrush current on a cold pack can trip the BMS before the mower completes a single row.

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months. If the Automower 105 sat unpowered through winter, the pack may have dropped below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 10–12V for an 18V Li-ion pack. The Husqvarna charger reads this as a fault condition and refuses to begin a charge cycle. Some chargers have a recovery or "boost" mode; if yours does not, a bench charger set to Li-ion at a trickle rate (0.1C) can bring the pack voltage back above the acceptance threshold, after which the Automower charger will resume normal charging.

Mower cuts out mid-row on thick or wet grass then restarts on its own

Thick or wet grass increases blade drag significantly, which causes a sharp current spike through the motor. If this spike exceeds the BMS overcurrent threshold, the protection board disconnects the pack to prevent cell damage. The mower stops, pauses briefly, and then the BMS resets and allows the mower to restart — often within 30 to 60 seconds. If this happens repeatedly, check that the blade disc is not worn or clogged and that the cutting height is not set too low for current grass conditions.
