Fits Archos AV605 120GB and AV605 Wifi 120GB portable media players with 3.7V Li-Polymer chemistry.
Voltage 3.7V and 5200mAh capacity deliver full playback duration on a single charge cycle.
Connector slides into the factory battery slot with standard polarity orientation and locking tab.
We bench-tested the cell in both models—BMS accepted charge without fault codes on first insertion.
After installation, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on; media players enter deep discharge protection state after extended storage and need a trickle charge handshake before normal current acceptance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos AV605 120GB & AV605 WiFi 120GB — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Archos AV605 120GB and AV605 WiFi 120GB portable media players. It slots directly into the battery bay and connects to the same onboard charging circuit the original cell used. Capacity is rated at 19.24Wh — matching the original specification.

  • AV605 and AV605 WiFi compatibility: Both models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and 3.7V charging rail. The WiFi variant draws more current when the wireless module is active, but the battery itself is identical across both units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the AV605 platform. The onboard BMS accepted charge current without fault, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold — no runaway, no false cutoffs at mid-charge.
  • First charge after install: AV605 units that have sat unused often enter a deep discharge protection state. Connect the charger immediately after fitting the new cell and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the device needs a slow trickle before it accepts normal charge current.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the AV605

The AV605 estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a fixed lookup table stored in firmware. A new cell with a slightly different discharge curve will read as a different percentage than the actual state of charge — especially in the middle of the range. This recalibrates over two to three full charge and discharge cycles. Run the player down to auto-shutdown, then charge fully to 4.2V each time, and the indicator will settle.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the AV605 needs a stable voltage above roughly 3.4V to drive output without dropout. As the cell approaches the end of its discharge curve, voltage sags under load faster than the display circuit alone would cause. The firmware reads voltage at idle and may still show one bar of charge, but the amplifier circuit loses headroom and cuts the audio signal. If playback stops while the indicator shows charge remaining, charge the unit — the cell is closer to depletion than the indicator suggests.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AV605 won't turn on even after I plugged it in — is the new battery dead?

Almost certainly not. The AV605 enters a deep discharge protection state after extended storage, and the BMS blocks normal charge current until it sees a slow trickle first. Leave the charger connected for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. After that hold, the device should accept a full charge and boot normally.

Audio keeps cutting out near the end of a charge — why does this happen with a new battery?

The AV605's audio amplifier requires cell voltage above roughly 3.4V to maintain clean output. Near the tail of the discharge curve, voltage drops under load faster than the onboard indicator tracks. The display may still show charge remaining while the amplifier loses the headroom it needs. Charge the unit when playback starts dropping — the cell is further depleted than the percentage shown.

The battery percentage on my AV605 jumps around erratically after fitting the new cell — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The AV605 estimates charge level by matching cell voltage to a fixed firmware table calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A fresh cell reads slightly differently until the firmware relearns the curve. Run the player down to auto-shutdown, then charge to full — repeat this two or three times and the percentage display will stabilise.
