Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos Gmini 120 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PMPARG120)
This 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Archos Gmini 120 portable media player. It fits the compact handheld unit that plays both digital audio and video. Voltage and capacity match the original PMPARG120 specification exactly.
- Gmini 120 fit: The Gmini 120 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a low-current BMS suited to a media player's steady draw — no high-surge motor load, just consistent drain from the display, codec, and audio amplifier. This cell meets that spec.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the Gmini 120 platform. The BMS accepted charge current normally, held the protection threshold at low voltage, and did not trip during audio and video playback.
- First charge after installation: The Gmini 120 can enter deep discharge protection after sitting unused with a depleted cell. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — this lets the circuit trickle enough voltage into the cell to exit protection mode and accept a normal charge current.
Battery percentage jumping after swapping the cell on a Gmini 120
The Gmini 120 reads battery level by measuring cell voltage against fixed thresholds — it has no fuel gauge IC that learns capacity. After a cell swap, the device has no stored reference for the new cell's discharge curve. This causes the percentage indicator to jump or skip, especially in the lower third of the charge. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles and the readings will stabilise as the voltage thresholds align with the new cell's behaviour.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator reaches empty
The audio amplifier in the Gmini 120 draws a brief current spike each time it processes a new audio frame. At the tail end of discharge, cell voltage sags under that load and can drop below the BMS cutoff threshold — even when the indicator still shows a remaining charge. This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. If playback cuts out repeatedly near the end of a charge, do a full charge cycle and avoid running the player below the point where you see it occur. If the cell is genuinely degraded, a fresh 1500mAh cell will restore the voltage headroom at end-of-discharge to approximately 3.2V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Archos Gmini 120 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a year — is the new battery dead too?
It is almost certainly not dead. When a Li-ion cell discharges below around 2.5V during long storage, the BMS locks out normal operation to protect the cell. Connect the charger and leave the Gmini 120 plugged in for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. The circuit needs that time to trickle current into the cell before it will exit protection mode and allow a normal power-on.
The battery percentage on my Gmini 120 jumps from 40% straight to 10% without warning — what is going on?
The Gmini 120 estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against fixed internal thresholds — there is no adaptive fuel gauge. After fitting a new cell, those thresholds do not yet match the new cell's actual discharge curve, so the indicator skips steps in the middle and lower range. Run two full charge and discharge cycles and the readings will track more consistently as the voltage curve settles into the thresholds the firmware expects.
Audio on my Gmini 120 cuts out mid-track even though the battery still shows a charge — why?
The audio amplifier draws a brief current spike with each processed frame, and near end-of-discharge that spike causes the cell voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff even when the display still shows remaining capacity. This is not a faulty battery — it is the BMS doing its job at the edge of the discharge curve. Charge the device fully before a listening session, and note the playback point where the cutout happens; if it consistently occurs below 3.2V under load, the cell's discharge headroom is exhausted and a replacement will resolve it.
